Ratings for an unreleased movie

I noticed there were two ratings already for the movie « Weapons » of which the release date is August 8. How is that possible ?

Edit: upon reading the forums a bit more I learned there is a button in the settings called « Display Early Ratings ». That would allow me to hide the early ratings if unchecked. The problem is that the button was already unchecked but I still got the early ratings displayed ?

The setting works only on web. On apps you’ll still see the 55% or whatever rating

Is that setting there? In my app I don’t see a setting like that. But eventually it should work the same for the official Trakt apps.

It’s just work in progress (or they forgot about it because there was more important stuff going on) and for now only on the web. It was announced November ‘22

Option to ignore ratings/votes made before the release date

I just released some updates for this feature request. By default, all unreleased items will have their rating percentage hidden throughout the website (eventually official apps too). Global setting to display all ratings if you prefer the old behavior. Items without a release date won’t be hidden (to deal with old TV episodes and specials). Rating action still works on the summary page + apps. As mentioned, the early ratings have virtually no impact on the overall rating once an item is act…
