We’ve made some updates to the trending shows and movies pages to better reflect what people are watching. Instead of only real time plays (scrobbles + checkins) trending also includes manually added plays and expands the time frame to 24 hours.
Why did you change this?
We want to better reflect what people are watching and help you discover new things to watch. Manual plays are just as important as scrobbles and checkins and should be counted.
What parts of Trakt use the new trending?
The website, official apps, and lite all have the updated trending stats. The API does as well, so any 3rd party app will have it too.
How do the new trending stats compare to the old trending stats?
The ordering is pretty similar, but the number of watchers and plays will be higher than the old trending page. We still calculate trending on an on going basis, so you’ll see things adjust like before. Summary pages still have the real time trending account.
