📆 TV Time shuts down tomorrow: export, verify, check and report

A quick but important follow-up for anyone moving from TV Time.

TV Time is shutting down tomorrow, July 15. Today, focus on these things: export your data, verify your import, check known issues, and report anything genuinely missing.

Export your data

  1. Request and download your TV Time GDPR export.
  2. Optionally, use the TV Time Liberator as an additional backup while the TV Time website and login still work.
  3. Keep your files somewhere safe. Don’t edit or delete them.

The GDPR export is the recommended backup because it contains more of your original TV Time data.

The Liberator browser extension can also be useful, especially for movies. More technical users can use the Liberator command-line tool for a more complete export.

The priority today is simply to save your data before access to TV Time disappears.

Verify your import

We’ve seen some confusion around the Screen Time section on Trakt.

Screen Time only shows activity from the last seven days, not your complete watch history. If you imported older TV Time history, it may therefore be empty or much lower than the number you remember.

To verify your import, check the All time stats at the top of your profile instead.

Check known issues

The importer is working for most users, but we’re still investigating a few issues:

  • History may import correctly while Continue Watching remains inaccurate.
  • Some anime may have missing or mismatched episodes because TV Time and Trakt organize seasons differently.
  • Some exports contain incomplete or unusual identifiers that require additional matching.

We’re working every day to improve how TV Time export data is matched with Trakt data during import.

If your history exists but your progress looks wrong, please don’t delete everything and repeatedly reimport it yet.

Report missing data

If something is genuinely missing, use the report form and describe the issue as accurately as possible.

Specific examples are much more useful than general reports that only say the import didn’t work. Once we know a reimport will help, we’ll reach out with clear instructions.

For now, keep your export files.

Export first, we’ll help with the rest

Thank you to everyone who has shared exports, examples and detailed reports. They’ve already helped us support more TV Time formats and fix several import problems.

The important thing today: export your TV Time data. Then verify, check and report only if needed.
