Yes, you actually can own a physical episode. Thereās a little thing called original video animation (OVA), primarily in Japan. Those are traditionally released per episode on physical media. For example, the 12 episode OVA series Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (1996-1999) was released in Japan on 11 separate VHS tapes / LaserDiscs over the course of 3 years. All but the first VHS tape / LaserDisc feature just a single episode. Thatās 10 separate episodes someone can own a physical copy of.
Having limits on history and ratings seems a bit odd to me, even if āalmost no oneā is affected by this, some will be. And thatās the most basic functionality of Trakt.
Iām personally not having issues with other limits, but 100 personal lists as someone who pays 60 $ a year is not enough. I maintain lists for different use cases, and certainly not in a spammy fashion, and something like 250 or 500 seems way more appropriate given the VIP price.
Watch History, Ratings, and Library should not have limits. These are fundamental functions of the site. Nobody would have ever started using this site if such limits were a thing. You seriously canāt seem to stop making bad decision after bad decision. What is going on over there!?
Iām pretty shocked at the idea that there will be limits to watch history. I mean, its the entire reason people have used this site. Iām only 22k i guess but then again i watch a lot of hour long content. But others donāt and may watch more than me. The whole point of this site is track and catalogue media, thatās the whole reason i use the site.
The primary issue i see with putting limits is, this could be just the beginning. What happens if they decide to cut the limits even further?
I also have the Offline library issue where it shows ā15.1k/100ā I guess its because i use Plextracksync. What happens when that limit is enforced? will those previous plays that were tracked be deleted? or will i no longer be able to track with Plextracksync?
I understand that āunlimitedā is impossible, and nobody should expect to have, say, trillions of items in any category. But the limits as proposed are impractical. Iām already over 50% of ratings, and for some reason I have almost 10,000 items in my Offline Library.
Personally I donāt care about lists at all, but the numbers mentioned by others donāt sound utterly unreasonable. I think there needs to be a way to accommodate power users.
The watch and rate limit is my deal breaker, i draw the line there,

Limiting watch history is my sign that this is end of the road for me and Trakt. I have loved this website for nearly 13 full years. I dislike a lot of the previous changes, but accepted it because things like lists, notes, etc are bonus services to me since what I really want is just a catalog of my watch history. This cap on watch history is a huge bummer, Iām at 83k between tv and movies.
I guess Iām going back to the old school āgiant excel spreadsheetā method.
I already export my watch history by Show/Movie/Episodes on a semi regular basis. Copy and Paste everything to one Excel Sheet and follow the provided link to add any missing information that you think is needed. Then add formulas to simplify everything.
Been doing it for a while because shows/movies do get removed for being copies or for whatever reason every so oftenā¦ But you donāt have to start from scratch.

So I really donāt get it. All of my media has been added to Trakt via the Plex webhook, but somehow I have no media added through Plex?
And as you can see, Iām a long time Trakt VIP user (13 years) and Iāve reached the limits a long time ago.
Like other members said, it used to be Unlimited and hassle free, but going from Unlimited to Extremely Limited for long time users or heavy watchers is a bit strange.
Like others suggested, maybe a limit thatās raised every years you are subscribed to Trakt, if itās such a strain on servers or traffic.
Or maybe bundle digital and physical media as one overall limit, no matter what kind of media it is.
And just a final note; I guess Iām old or something but I really donāt get the new V3 layout. Itās so not intuitive nor visually pleasing, but thatās just my two cents. And Iād really like to keep using V2.

So where exactly can I see my summary? I see nothing, be it in v2 or v3. App or website.
I seriously hope that the 10k rating limit is immediately reconsidered. That it was ever considered realistic, clearly tells me that whoever is responsible for these numbers didnāt pay much attention to actual usage profiles.
People logging what they watch and how they rate content is actually valuable data for Trakt. Limitations should be avoided there.
