I am concerned about upcoming removal of V2 since it was discussed that it would happen at the end of the month. There are many features that I use daily and find essential that still aren’t implemented in the website.
Private notes - these have been enabled on only shows in the watchlist. These need to be added for all shows and individual episodes. In V2 I have tons of existing notes on episodes but with V3 where will they go and how can I view them?
Hide individual seasons and episodes - it is way more specific than dropping a show altogether. For example if I want to watch only a single season of Survivor I don’t want it sitting in the continue watching section forever displaying the other seasons. Also for existing hidden shows/seasons/episodes there will be no UI to unhide them if V2 site is nonexistent.
Episodes in lists - again I have a ton of lists with individual episodes in them. I can view some of them on V3 and others are bugged. This feature needs to be added back again.
Progress page - a major data point missing is the ability to see percent progress watched and time remaining. This has been partially implemented at a season level but still doesn’t exist for the entire show.
Season pages - again does not exist. I miss being able to see the season specific descriptions and titles.
Refresh data button - this has been added to the iOS app but still is missing on the website. As someone who frequently updates TMDB this is an essential item.
Allow login with password rather than email code - this has been discussed in many threads as why this is a major inconvenience. I know there’s the workaround for using the /signin url but that will probably become defunct overtime. Plus does not work for logging in on the mobile app.
These are things that need to be addressed before the V2 site is sunsetted. Will we at least be notified before it’s shut down?
if the show or movie already has the required IDs in place on TMDB then it automatically imports. If something is missing they want people reporting them here so it can be fixed, usually its missing because there was a duplicate or the content was marked as adult at some point
Thank you very much for sharing your list of missing features. I hope you don’t mind if I add two more points that are very important to me and which I greatly miss in V3.
Seasons in lists - not only episodes, but also seasons should be allowed to be added to lists. I especially miss adding seasons to my Watchlist, since I like to follow my personal order in watching seasons (so only relying on “Continue watching” is not an option for me)
Real progress page - having a proper progress page back, showing progress bars and watched percentage, time left to watch, breakup into seasons (and so on) is probably my most urgent need at the moment
About the Refresh data button, I think it has been now added back to the website as well (even if quite hidden in one of the many “three dots” menus).
Yes I definitely agree with both those points! I really miss the progress page too so many good features are missing. I updated the wording of the main post because number 7 was basically asking for the progress page back lol.
The refresh data button specifically is still missing though. There is an option in the report dropdown menu but I’m referencing this one.
It queues up the show to pull the metadata from TMDB sooner than the default 24hr period. A function that doesn’t necessarily need a dedicated report filed because there isn’t an error in how the metadata is refreshed it just needs a manual trigger option.
I want proper stats. In V2 I can see the exact number of episodes I have watched. I can also see the time spent in days, hours and minutes. That is no where to be found in V3.
Main reason I’m paying for VIP is Rewatching. When that’s gone, I’m gone. Had a bit of a scare for a few hours, getting hard-redirected to V3 on new sessions. (While everything worked great and in V2 in already opened ones.)
A big one for me: The entire Notes interface is still missing. Currently the only way to access Notes — even simply to read existing Notes — is via the V2 web app, available only to VIPs. If that is taken away before Notes are finally implemented in V3, then I can’t trust that feature to ever come back.
My annual Emmy and Oscar public lists absolutely depend on Notes. Years of hard work could be gone…
These are massive things to omit, how are these not carried over?
Progress page - a major data point missing is the ability to see percent progress watched and time remaining. This has been partially implemented at a season level but still doesn’t exist for the entire show.
Season pages - again does not exist. I miss being able to see the season specific descriptions and titles.
I’ve always enjoyed scrolling down to the bottom of V2 and getting recommendations. The shows and movies I wasn’t interested in I just clicked away, “give me another recommendation”. The three items there would be things I was going to watch and finally logging/starting them felt good. Now there’s room for a new recommendation!
Now we instead have the “Start watching” page which just has all manners of random stuff on it, and you can’t hide any of it. The shows and movies that were my current recommends on V2 are not even on there.
I did find one item that I had forgotten to log so I clicked the and it just disappeared. Looked it up on the site. “Watch history: Today”. Ok, remove from history and re-check. Calendar popup is gone. The date is greyed out and I can’t write anything in that box. Had to scroll through hundreds and hundreds of items to find the correct placement for it, how is this easier on your servers? I assume this’ll get fixed.
Is the strategy to force people onto V3 against our will and hope we’ll just forget all the functionality we used to have?
Others have made lists. I would have to spend a day compiling mine if I had warning. Oh, but now I can’t, because I can’t log into V2 any more to check. Brilliant.
So many things are missing in V3. It’s terrible. I liked seeing my total watch time and total plays that the dashboard displayed. That is now missing. Even the episodes watched and movies watched is rounded to the nearest 100 for some reason. Why can’t you just show the exact number? I don’t think it shows you how many plays you have on any shows anymore. A show like The Simpsons I’ve gone through every episode once and many episodes twice. It always was interesting to see how many plays I had in a show, but that’s gone. My all time stats page doesn’t even load right now. Super disappointed in this update. Unfortunately for me my VIP just renewed a month ago but if the site is still like this next June, I will be canceling my VIP.
I desperately need all the data that used to be on the progress page back… I loved seeing how many episodes a show has, how many watches, how much time I’ve watched it, the breakdown of seasons and episodes (and which ones I’ve seen on this watch), and all the extra little data. Now it’s all gone. I can’t seem to find any of that info anywhere…
In addition what was cool about the progress page was, for each programme, the “progress bar” showed gaps in it at the exact places your unwatched episodes were.
It was a user configurable choice which I always had set that way. Just a flat %age would never show the same information.
