What is going on with the high volume of watches on xxx content on trakt?

Almost feels like someone is trolling trakt through botting views. Usually I don’t have an issue with xxx content but its to the point that looking for something to watch now filled with these. I usually look at trending and what people have watched in the last 7/30 days.

I wonder if we can make some changes to address this:

  1. Filter to remove XXX content
  2. Look into api abuse and possible bans?
  3. A way to only show watch counts/recommendations/ratings from trakt vip?

Adult content should not be listed at all, but sometimes it does sneak through TMDB if not marked as adult over there. You can click the “report” button on Trakt to alert us about it.

Do you have some example screenshots or links where you are seeing this?

It does seem like the content isn’t actually marked as xxx on tmdb. I see mostly SEA xxx content. If you have the ability to impersonate a user, go ahead at look at movies filtered by watched on my account.

If it’s not listed as adult on TMDB, that’s why it’s displayed on Trakt. These watched numbers are fairly low, so it might just be a dedicated groups of users who are watching those items.

Hmm… my experience is probably worsened here by my choosing to hide watched content in the filters. Is trakt strongly against user supplied feedback on content? Would the recommendation be to take it up with TMDB?

Is there a way to hide R/R18+ content? I wonder if there is a way to split between adult violence and adult softcore porn. I guess this probably wades in a long going debate into content rating.

Overall not too big off a deal for me I was just surprised to see so many and was wondering if this was some weird api abuse. May be a fetish section of the internet adopted trakt lol.

You can always just mark it as adult on TMDB, then it should get filtered out and not make it to Trakt.

Only if it’s actually adult.

One softcore scene doesn’t make it adult content. There must be two hardcore scenes to get the adult:true flag.

Yes, ultimately it would need to be handled by marking adult items as adult on TMDB, according to their rules.

Why not? What’s wrong with adult? Could we get an optional setting for it?

We’ve always ignored and removed adult tagged content and no plans to change that.
