Why an app for iOS?

Hey, what’s your issue with android?

Ever stop to consider the userbase may skew more towards iOS than it does Android? Look at the currently available apps on the apps page. iOS has always had more than Android. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong. But if the majority of people using my service is using a particular platform well I’m going to cater to that platform.

I’d also want to know the VIP breakdown between iOS and Android. In my small group of friends people do not like paying for services. That’s universal. However, my iOS using friends are far more likely to do so. Again, I’m not saying that’s the case with Trakt.

Finally, I, too, would work on the platform I’m most familiar with first. That just makes the most sense.

iPhone does not have a majority stake in the phone market anymore and they haven’t for over 5 years. So, I am not sure why you are saying they have the majority. However, I think what is much more likely is that the trakt team has some experience with iOS apps/devices (possibly form personal or past projects) and want to start with something they are more familiar with. Additionally, iOS is easier to build for because of the streamline of the software and hardware. There are only about 30-50 different hardware devices that run a version of iOS while there are hundreds (or thousands) of different hardware for Android and this inherently makes it harder to account for all variables.

Honestly, I am just excited that the trakt team is focusing on app development at all and am looking forward to the day I am invited for an alpha or beta (fingers crossed) for Android.

Have you considered making a progressive web app for android/pc?

Add another vote for Android.

Brand new to Trakt and I must say I was astonished there wasn’t an official Android app.

I see this thread was started in 2020. Has there been any progress on the Android app?

We’re in active development on the Android app.
