If you flag me for saying I’m not continuing my VIP membership your really salty.
aren’t there apps on play store that use trakt already? why do you need the official one ?
I’m a pure Android user and have a shortcut on home screen as an app. Not many issues. Web page is mostly mobile friendly. Yes, there are some minor issues, but nothing that would prevent using page on mobile. And I’ve been using it for almost 5 years now I think
I’m happy for the people that like the shortcut. Not for me.
you didn’t answer my question, have you tried android apps for trakt ? why do you ensist on the official one, im not using it. I have another app
Moviebase is working like a charm on Android.
For me it’s a perfect combo Trakt & Moviebase.
To be fair, Moviebase almost completely nuked my Trakt watch history in 2020. There’s something to be said about using an app developed by the company you’re paying a membership to. If I’m paying Trakt, I have some leverage when it comes to quality and security expectations. With third party, you’re at the mercy of their API implementation, you have to manage yet another app, and they aren’t incentivized or held accountable to your subscription fee and promises. Not to mention that Trakt has more complete access to its internal resources than an API provides, which gives an opportunity for better performance and UI/UX integration.
I use the website currently, which is great. But iOS users received their app after all of their asking and patience, so it shouldn’t be frowned upon for Android users to now do the same. Beta testing should not last for years, so it’s time that Trakt releases a roadmap for Android users. If I have to use a third party app to achieve my goals, then why have I been paying Trakt for 5 years?
Looks like you started a thread already at Release an Android app so we can continue the discussion there.
