Why did the list limit change?

When I signed up on 1 Jan of this year, the free tier offered creation of five free lists, aside from the Watchlist and Favorites. I know this for a fact, because I created four lists, and I said to myself, “oh I can create one more later”.

I went to go create a fifth list and got a pop-up saying “you’ve already created two lists, upgrade to VIP” or whatever. Why the change? Five lists was a really nice amount for free users. (Did I just answer my own question?) And more importantly, can anyone who signed up before the change still be allowed to create five lists?

Probably a good idea to good a decent search before starting a new thread…everything is explained here: Freemium Experience: More Features for All with Usage Limits

and here: https://releasenotes.trakt.tv/

and this one specifically discusses the List limits for free users: January 21, 2025 | Trakt Release Notes

Hope you understand and still try to enjoy the service(s) that Trakt offers.

I did search before starting a new thread but as those threads did not have the words in the title that I searched for, they did not come up.

Thank you.

Thank you very much for the help.

That’s quite a change on the watchlist and explains why several folks are having issues.

More than “several folks” and unfortunately, those of us only using Trakt for Kodi rarely - if ever - log into the Trakt website and/or app and therefore had no idea about these changes until we suddenly could no longer add anything to our lists. It’s utterly pathetic how poorly this was “communicated” and implemented.
