October 8th last year I submitted a ticket about issues with advanced filters. More specifically, it was an issue with the sliders covering ratings from third party sites.
When I used Rotten Tomatoes or their audience score, every show or movie was removed from the results. Even if they should have remained, based on my filter settings.
For Metacritic and TMDB it was the opposite. Nothing got removed from the results, even if they should - based on the filter settings.
November 17th I reported Kristin that the issue was resolved for three of these filter options but not for Metacritic.
She promised to inform the team.
December 15th I reported Kristin that not only the issue remained with Metacritic, someone even removed Metacritic as a filter option for series. It remained for movies but still wasn’t functional.
Kristin read that but never replied (See here, if you have access to support tickets). And another month later everything remained as reported.
I really don’t know what all this is supposed to tell me. There was an issue and someone obviously fixed it for the other three filter options. And then they got tired? Or annoyed that I brought it up again?
Incredible if true. Just another feature that I’m paying for and that obviously is important to me and they just silently get rid of it?
Why? Legal reasons?
What’s next, no more IMDb ratings?
And most of all, why couldn’t Kristin possibly tell me that? Instead she left me hanging for three months?!
Gosh, the erosion of features is already bad enough. But it’s all the communication failures that truly make me feel miserable about this place.
If you should read this by any chance, Justin. Exactly this is what I meant when I described that it’s not rational to demand respect for your team, if these very same people pull of such stunts.
I was polite and helpful when I made my report about the issues. And what did it get me in return? I certainly wouldn’t categorize this experience as being treated with respect.
Heck, there wasn’t even anyone from Trakt willing to share the news about Metacritic with me here, someone else had to do it. Because of all the damn respect you guys have for your customers.

Well, they said “phased out for now”, so maybe it’s not a final decision yet?
