Has anyone found something similar to Justwatch/Reelgood that let’s you see your custom watchlists and open the correct app on chromecast/android tv? I tried Syncler but it uses its own internal streaming options. I want to be able to see my custom lists and click on something that will take me to Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc.
You know what would really make this great? Include a small logo of the service that has a particular show. I’m still using these widgets to keep what I’m currently watching but often I forget which service is showing what shows. A real first world problem ha ha.
Wouldn’t it be easier to do what you need on your phone? really not understanding how it’s beneficial to do it on Android TV or TV OS devices when you’re already watching something. Unless I’m missing something that is beneficial to do it on the Android TV or TV OS devices.
It’s simply more practical. If you say, I want to watch a movie now that I’ve added to my watchlist.
Open the Trakt app, open the list, turn on the filter (hopefully remains active) “List me all movies that include my streaming services” and select the movie and simply press “Play” and the corresponding app opens in which the movie is offered.
I’ve got a sync in Docker that Syncs my lists from Trakt onto Plex.
Can then go through this watch list on my Shield to find something to watch and open in Plex or one of my streaming services.
Easy.
I really liked Plex and wanted it to work, but when it pointed at the wrong location there wasn’t really anything you could do about it. If there is, let me know.
I built an app on top of trakt.tv. There’s a docker image that has a web UI and that can control a TV using adb. There’s also an Android App that can be installed on the TV for more direct control. I have it wired to automatically open with my Netflix button.
You have to manually go search for shows and movies and then add them to the item manually. But on the upside once you have the link set it tends to keep working.
