Any chance to recover years of history lost?

I must have misconfigured something when resetting up emby last week and all of the files I have locally got wiped on trakt. Something like 8 years of history. The only items that seem to have survived are things not in my library.

Is there no way to recover?

So frustrated.

We might be able to recover. Please email support@trakt.tv and include your username so we can investigate further.

Done. Thank you.

That is why i dont use any plugin in Kodi. I’m soooo afraid of a wrong sync. I have bad experience with an app in iOS that at some point it added on every watch episode another 100 views, thank god for that utility of cleaning duplicate entries.

@justin how about a backup feature for a VIP member option ? So we can all sleep more easy.

I used to be the same way but after finally caving and testing it, it’s so much simpler to no longer have to manually track watches/library changes. I ran the plugin for years without issue. I just botched the setup on the new install.

I love your backup feature idea. Even if it’s just an export to csv or something, I could live with that (especially if we can import it back into Trakt).

I’ve actually thought about that too, maybe a scheduled back up to dropbox. Would be a pretty cool VIP feature.

or maybe you can put this as an EP feature, so that people the new badge has some meaning after all

But yes, a backup should be available. Don’t get exclusive with dropbox, just the usually cloud, google drive , onedrive, icloud or save locally. Although i do not know the format or the size of it.

Also a good followup is not to allow user to restore manually. Cause i believe a lot of user will have backups and restore once the think they do something stupid and later realize the restore was more stupid and you get a lots of support tickets. Lets have the i-sleep-easy-cause-i-have-a-backup feature and the rest will follow.

yes, i do manual only. I like to you know swipe right and check-in on Serist
And after the fiasco i told you about with the viewings which has happened more than once, i do not gamble with my sanity any more

I agree, people will find a way to screws things up, see my OP as an example . That being said, if you can’t restore, what is the point of the backup? Unless it’s human readable and just for record keeping. Is that what you meant?

yeah sorry, i forgot to enter a sentence!
I mean the restore should be happen by opening a ticket in support and let the trakt genius nerds do it.
These way not always people will restore and mess things up, they will tend to use restore only on actually crisis. Just my 2 cents
