Better integration of alternate orders

In relation with the ever-lasting discussions on TMDB’s rules on Anime series, I think the best solution would be to better integrate alternate orders.

This functionality has been on the second plan since forever. It can only be used on the website. Moreover, you really have to look for them to find them, and they’re view-only, meaning you have to go to each series, click on the alternate order, and then mark an episode as watched.

Alternate orders should be given way more priority imo, as they can help solve so much problems and would greatly benefit the users. For instance, I’m watching a series using the DVD order instead of the broadcast order, and to do that I have to consult a list every time to know which episode is next. Same for anime, if I want to know where a season stops, I have to check wikipedia.

To achieve this, users should first and foremost be able to use them on mobile of course. Moreover, it would be great to set an order as default. I’m not asking to change episode numbers in the history as these would be impossible to match, would be a mess, and the data is not available on TMDB, they’re just the same episodes but in a different order/different seasons. But simply setting an alternate order that would appear on up next by default for a particular series would be a delight. (say an anime has 2 seasons of 30 episodes each, on up next, instead of seeing 1x40, we would see 2x10, but intrinsically it would mark 1x40 as watched).

no need to call out someone who “laughed” at your post. that’s just petty, and you lose all credibility for your post when you do that

I was just curious

for what it’s worth I agree with what you said, i’m just not holding my breath for this to happen anytime soon. it’s been about 3 years since they even introduced the option to sort by seasons like that, and they’ve got bigger things/issues to tackle first.
