For the past few hours, I’ve been seeing a constant “Caching your data” message on the site, and it never seems to finish. I’ve tried different browsers and computers, but the issue persists across all of them. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Also, when I open an item that should be in a list, it doesn’t appear as listed. I’ve already tried resetting the cache, but that didn’t change anything.
How large is your data? I’ve run into that many many times. I’ve had to go in and delete shows/movies from long ago to reduce my data size. This happens also when the processing in the backend times out, which also causes the Server 500 error. This timeout can sometimes be caused because it is just taking too long to process your data.
I guess it’s a trade-off for performance. The only shows I remove (I don’t remove movies) are shows that are concluded/cancelled/ended and I know I have already watched them so really that data is obsolete because I can filter out shows I have already rated. This usually means I have watched them, or else I wouldn’t rate them.
I, like you, am VIP so I can always store finished shows that I have deleted in a separate list for reference. This is why I love how the Watch List is made. It’s really the main thing I use so that I know what I am watching, when something is coming up and if I’ve missed something I know my Watch List will tell me and I can go find it (DVR’d, streaming, etc..).
None of that matters for shows that are done. They are just holding up data/space which in turn…causes website performance issues because it has to scrub all that data for all these custom filters, caching, and many many other things going on behind the scenes.
I do, however, go back to old shows I like that I have removed, and rewatch them. I will track them again (for instance, I’ll watch Friday Night Lights every year before football season)…so there are occasions where I will add shows back.
