Can't seem to set up browser notifications for Safari anymore

Hello!

I noticed I haven’t been getting notifications for a while, so I removed the notification settings for browser notifications in Safari. But I’m unable to add it back.

Before in settings it said that trakt.tv was allowed to sent notifications, and then I set it to ask, and later even removed the whole rule so it should ask. But I’m just unable to get the pop-up asking for notifications.

I’ve tried with a private tab. I’ve not got any ad or content blocker. I’ve temporary changed the settings to allow cross-platform tracking etc. Resetting browser data. Nothing helps.

Any insights?

When I change the user agent to Google Chrome, I do get the Safari notification pop-up, however, when switching back to default, it still says Connect instead of Connected/Disconnect.

Clicking allow did update my Safari settings again.

@lifeiscrazy
I’m experiencing the same issue on Google Chrome and Safari. I’ve tried multiple devices but I cannot get the browser notifications to work. I don’t use Slack, pushbullet, or pushover.

I still can’t make this work on either Google Chrome or Safari :frowning:
@justin send help!

I think the issues is the script being blocked by an ad blocker. The file that needs to be loaded is https://cdn.onesignal.com/sdks/OneSignalSDK.js. My notifications weren’t working either actually, but I was able to disconnect Safari, then reconnect it and then it started working again.

That’s so weird! I have the adblocker disabled on trakt on chrome and safari but I will try to add it as an exception anyway tomorrow and see it that helps!! Maybe it still blocks some stuff even if it’s off :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Have the browser notifications been disabled since?

I did a clean instal of my Macbook recently, and notifications were no longer working on Safari, so I thought to disconnect and connect again.

But the Notifications thing doesn’t even appear.

It’s a very clean Safari, doesn’t even have a blocker extension. And I’ve enabled anything I can for Trakt, cookies, cross-sitetracking, everything.

It does mention onesignal as a tracker, so if that’s needed, I’m clueless as to why it’s not working.

I’m still having the same issue on Firefox by the way (I’ve since moved from Chrome, but I still relied on Safari for notifications, but in the end I could get that one to work).

I even installed Pushbullet (on Firefox) just now to see if that would make it re-appear, but no luck! :frowning:

Oh that does seem to be the case, I found an old release note:

Sad I won’t be getting push notifications on my laptop anymore. I don’t like phone notifications that much.

Almost regretting my clean install.
I wonder if they were barely used because people couldn’t get them to work.

Since they do appear when something is connected, any chance you can just toggle them back on (for me), or make it a setting?
