Did they add value or just cost?

When we received the email that the service was going to DOUBLE in price just after they said that they “valued” their VIP membership holders, I couldn’t help but feel it was more insulting than just being honest with us. If you value your customers, you show it, not just say it. I know I am not alone when I say this, but it was truly shocking just how jaded their leadership must be. If you are going to double the price, you should double the value. Let’s be honest, it wasn’t really worth $30. But like others have said, I chose to pay it because I wanted to support their potential. The people who joined Trakt were the people who were tired of streaming services screwing us over, so we left. This demographic has already shown their willingness to leave when they feel they’re being treated unfairly. Does Trakt really believe this was a smart move?

Just cost. They are promising features soon.

Only cost.

… Unless you believe lying about what grandfathering means is value.

They also promised to grandfather $30 for existing members, so their promises are not worth much right now.

They broke promises, violated their own ToS and only made claims to new features being added soon.
