What is trakt trying to achieve with this price hike?

Because from everything I’ve read so far on this forum and on reddit, trakt is losing thousands of VIP subscribers who are not willing to pay this insane new VIP price = losing tens of thousands of dollars.

Are they trying to run this service into the ground for some reason we don’t understand yet? I genuinely would like to know what the reasoning here is.

Must be some stupid attempt at Hollywood accounting? It doesn’t make any sense how everything added to the service has been detrimental for the users and on top of that they want to bump the price from $15 to $60 (lol), I’ve been a VIP for 11 years, just installed Yamtrack and configured my servers to scrobble to that instead.

Bye bye.

No idea how many long-standing VIPs they have, but the math is rather simple.
If you have x VIPs paying just $15 a year, and half of them quit if charged $60, you still make twice as much money as before.

So the simple truth is that Justin values money more than the people who supported him on trakt’s path here. That’s the essence.

And the irony is that he didn’t even need to break his promises, if his own words about the financial stability of Trakt are to be believed. Or his claims that VIP subs increased after the changes to free users.

Nope, by his very own words and claims, all of this isn’t about need but about greed.

if they don’t introduce at least some type of tiers for VIP, so price based on features you use than sorry for the language but the people who decided this are the stupidest ever.

Why the hell do i have to pay full price for every feature when i just use like a feature or 2
