I'm seeing movies I didn't add - I'm not sure where to put this

That started showing up in Flixoid (now uninstalled), first, I think. All I know is, I never added that movie, to anything. It’s not even a movie I would be interested in rewatching. So, where did it come from? Most of the movies in that image are movies I know I never added, in any app. Actually, I don’t even use SeriesGuide for movies. Only TV shows.

All I can do is look at the data, and it’s being sent from SerieGuide. It’s entirely possible another app sent the data first, then it synced back down to SeriesGuide. But now SeriesGuide is syncing the data after you remove it.

I’d recommend uncollecting from within SeriesGuide first, then uncollect on the Trakt website if it’s still there.

Ok, I think I got it this time! Man, this can be like chasing your own tail, until you figure out which app is doing what, isolate, and check each one, individually. I did find them in the movie collection, in SG, and removed them all. Now, I don’t see them in my collection. So, maybe I finally got this under control?! Thanks, man!! I appreciate your help!! :v: YAY!!! I even found “A Shot in a Starry Night,” on the site, and removed that instance, too. No more errors!!! WOOOHOOO!!! Thanks again!!!

This is still happening, and I believe I have narrowed it down to FilmPlus. So, I logged out of trakt on that app, and removed them all. First in the app, and then on the Trakt website. But when it does this, it’s always the same movies!! Where are they coming from?!! This is so frustrating!! As soon as I log into Trakt on that app, those same movies will populate again. GRRRRRR!!!
How can that even happen, when I have never added those movies to my collection, on any apps?! It has to be coming from someone else’s Trakt account!! How is this happening?!!

If you think it’s someone else’s account then try to change your trakt pw, then revoke all apps again. If it still happens again, it’s def coming from some app you’re logging into.

My password is secure. I have no problem with any other apps, right now. It seems that Flixoid was doing it, before, so I got rid of it. There was an update recently for FilmPlus, but I don’t use it that often, so I don’t know when it started doing that. But if it only happens when I log into Trakt, how could they be coming from anywhere but Trakt? It doesn’t happen when I’m not logged into Trakt on that app. So, it’s obviously something that only happens when I’m logged into Trakt. So, how can it be coming from anywhere else? Every other app is fine. But as soon as that one populates, it’s full of the same old movies, mixed in with mine. And then they all show up on Trakt again.

This time, since I knew what was going on, as soon as I saw that, I logged out of every other app that uses Trakt. So, it is definitely coming from your server. I can duplicate it once more, if you want to see a screenshot? It’s really frustrating, having to remove all instances from both the site and the app, though. I mean, somehow, these movies got stuck in my queue, so it seems. And I don’t know how they keep repopulating, when I removed them all. The app itself doesn’t do anything, until I log into the Trakt server. So, it has to be coming from Trakt. Where else could it possibly come from? It is definitely coming from Trakt, because it doesn’t happen until I log into Trakt on that app. It makes no sense, since there is no other service it could be using.

I mean, if I’m only logged into my account, on that one single app, and as soon as I log into Trakt, they all appear again, it has to be on your server, somewhere. There is literally nowhere else it could come from.

Not always true. Some apps has 2-way sync and it would first do a sync from app to trakt, before it does a sync from trakt to app.

Reason why some apps does sync from app to trakt first is in case the user has done stuff before logging into trakt. By doing syncing app to trakt first allows trakt to get the most up to date watch changes before syncing stuff from trakt to app.

Since you don’t believe me that it’s coming from some app, I’ll let trakt dev let you know what app it may come from unless you already removed them again.

Please provide some specific examples from your watched history and I will check which app is sending the plays. Trakt doesn’t auto add any data, it requires you to enter the data manually or is synced up from an app using the Trakt API.

I have this completely isolated, right now. There is no doubt that these movies are coming from Trakt. Do you want me to show you? I’ll log back in, on FilmPlus only, and go through the hassle again, just to get you a screenshot of the Trakt movie list, if you think you can figure out whose collection these are coming from, and how they end up in mine?!

Ok, here goes. I’m going to log in on FilmPlus, and it’s going to add these movies again.

Sounds like FilmPlus is sending the data. Trakt itself can’t add data to your account without the app telling it to.

Ok, so how can that be possible? It’s happened with a different app (Flixoid) before, and that’s on a fresh install. No apps showing at all, until I log in, and then it’s always the same old movies that show up, that aren’t mine, no matter which app is responsible.

Ok, I reinstalled it, and all seems normal. Only my movies are showing. So, why does this keep happening, but only with certain apps? And how do these movies keep ending up in my collection? I’m literally just working with FilmPlus and Trakt, right now. No other apps are active.

So, I hit the refresh, and there they all are again. GRRRRR!!! Always the same movies. I wish I could blacklist them all!!!

It is because those apps have a local copy of the data. They are checking Trakt, seeing the movies don’t exist, and are syncing the data back up.

But, I’ve totally uninstalled and reinstalled it. Nothing strange, until I hit the refresh, and then they all come piling in. Where would they be? Nothing in the folder. Not even backups. This has happened with two different apps now. And it’s always the same movies. Doesn’t seem very likely. The only thing I know is that Flixoid and FilmPlus are practically clones.

Check that out. Def the app is storing the database somewhere local on your device like Justin said. And that’s what I was also suggesting too. It’s most likely in a location the typical user is not able to access unless the phone or device is rooted.

Yeah, the only thing I don’t have access to is the Android data folder. So, I can’t see if there is anything in it. Access denied. Well, I sure as hell aren’t doing a factory reset just for this.

Not saying to do a factory reset either. Just saying it’s bc the database for that app is still stored locally. Is this on your phone or tablet? There might be a setting on a phone or tablet where even if you uninstall the app, the settings and local databases for the app is still preserved. So even if you reinstall after an uninstall, the settings would still be there.

I know that’s a dumb setting to have. Apparently it’s made for the ppl that accidentally uninstall apps :rofl:. I just can’t remember what that setting is called.

This is just ridiculous!!! They’re Nvidia Shields. I have two of them.

ah ok. yea i have a shield, the shield doesn’t have that auto backup option, but yea not sure why you keep getting that issue. all i know is that it’s still 3rd party app related causing the issue as ridiculous as it sounds. There’s no other way trakt magically get those movies added back again.

Strange how it wouldn’t save any of my legitimate movies, nor the shows, if that’s the case. That doesn’t make any sense, if that’s what it does. If I clear the data, there should be no trace of any non-accessible data. But, that’s just like reinstalling it. I guess I just can’t use that one anymore.

Since you called both those as “clones”, I suggest not using any clones of those 3rd party apps then. Something about that 3rd party app and its “clones” appear to have the same type of issue that you’re seeing.
