Let's focus on the positives, what do you like about new trakt?

What are the things you like about new trakt?

For me, now that I’ve cancelled VIP, that will save me $60 a year. I also will waste less time browsing trakt.

to be honest, there’s too many negatives to focus on the positives. i wish i could focus on the positives. just being honest.

okay, the only positive is it’s consistent across all platforms. BUT that’s still a negative imo. desktop and mobile should not be identical. and website should not be exactly like an app.

Nothing. It’s trash.

Only that it is faster. Everything else is a downgrade.

I do actually like how content is laid out on the new dashboard.

The only problem is that ratings are non-existent on it though, which renders it pretty useless for me as seeing ratings on cards is crucial in how I decide what I want to watch.

Ratings and reviews feel like a second-class citizen in new Trakt, which is odd.

Localised movie/show titles (including search support, which matters a lot!) and the localised UI as well. Both of these together allowed me to get my mom (who does not know English) to use Trakt (installed as PWA on her phone). I consider this a huge win. Personally, I will continue to use the old UI, though, because it’s (at least right now) clearly better for a less casual user (especially due to missing features) + the layout stays the same, while the layout of the new one changes (and is bound to change) more often. I make bug reports/feature requests whenever my mom mentions something to me, but I’m not inclined to use the new Trakt myself until it’s in a more complete state.

I guess from my POV, another “upside” (if I actually used it) of new Trakt is the lack of support for the library, which means I can’t accidentally click on “Add to library”, lol. Obviously would have been better if I could just hide the library-related UI in the settings of the old Trakt instead, but hey, theoretically it is an upside for me :stuck_out_tongue: . In some regards, the old Trakt is also a bit less mobile-friendly than the new one (especially the time picker when marking something as watched seems quirky, though that’s not much of an argument when the new Trakt just doesn’t have the datetime picker at all).

To be honest, the especially annoying thing is the automatic redirect when the new site really doesn’t feel ready, but it’s hard to get people to actually test the site and give feedback when the current site is just there as the default, so I somewhat get it… I wish they gave us a setting for keeping the old version as the default, even if they forcefully reset it every couple of months, so that they can get people to try it again after changes every once in a while (or maybe some more clever and less invasive approach where they show it off in a pop-up or something, I donno) and have the “old design switch” asks you why you’re switching back. Sure, it requires the Trakt team to spend time on implementing that instead of using it for making further improvements to the UI, but it could drastically change people’s reception, and these kinds of practices are not unheard of.

Is there anything to like, it’s awful!

Give us a toggle to turn it back to the classic view. This monstrosity should not be forced onto us. Had anyone asked for this?! Did anyone ask if we wanted it?!
