In the new UI it seems like Lists now longer can have seasons in them and I can no longer sort them however I want.
I used to use both of these all the time to create my personal “shows of the year” lists to share with friends.
Now my list is empty because I added seasons to it rather that whole shows. Because that’s the thing that actually came out that year, also a show might have 2 seasons come out in one year and hold different positions, like Squid Game S2 and S3 last year for example.
I could live with doing Show Only entries but why on Earth didn’t you migrate people’s lists to add the show if the season wasn’t going to display anymore? Hopefully you didn’t actually change the data layer, just the UI, so you can still fix this.
However without custom ranking it’s impossible to actually do this anyway. Why would you take that away? Why would I sort my lists by what other people say?
Hi, thanks for reaching out!
We have indeed removed the options to add “seasons” and “episodes” from lists. However, the lists you already have will not have those items removed and them not showing up in the app is currently a bug. They were already added in the web version.
As for being able to change the order of the items in the “Ranked” order, that feature should be back too, in a future update.
I still don’t understand why the seasons, episodes, shouldn’t be on the watchlist. In my watchlist I have, for example, the second season of “Cross”. The list is sorted by release date. Under the season poster is the release date. So I see when I can look forward to the new season. If I now add the show “Cross” to my watchlist, it appears right at the beginning. But I’m not interested, since I’ve already seen the first season. I hope it is to understand what I mean.
Thank you for replying, and it’s great that some of the bugs are being fixed (although the fact they made it into the release is pretty bad), but could you explain why Lists are now limited to shows only? It sounds like your data layer still supports other entities being added, so is it just that there’s no button to add them any more?
Can we raise a feature request to get that back? Long press context menu on a season tile or something.
You can open issues on our GitHub repository: trakt/trakt-web/issues (I will created those at some point but having the issue in user’s own words is better than linking to the forum imo)
Quick Note:
try to open one issue per feature/bug (ie: one issue for the “Seasons not visible in Watchlist” case and one for the fact “Seasons can’t be added to any List”, another one for the “sort by rank”) → it helps to have a clear understanding of your use cases and we can better prioritize and incrementally add them this way
Sorry, but WHY do we have to go to another platform (one I do not have or use) to open issues with Trakt when we have a perfectly good (open to debate on that at the moment) site called Trakt!!! where there is a Forum to discuss ideas/fears and comments.
This seriously boils my blood that a I pay for a service but then am expected to go to another site to look at “issues”
They are saying you can do that, not that you must. Kevin says he’ll create the tickets himself but letting me know I have the option of raising them myself if I want to.
GitHub is a software engineering tool so it will be what their team actually uses for working against, thus offering the choice of a much more direct connection and tbh, very cool that they let users do that.
I\m pretty sure we all know what GitHub is, the point that changnoi made is still valid though. Why add another location to the already long list of “wants” that exist here that remain unaddressed.
The inference is almost that what people have been saying here for the past 2 months is utterly irrelevant and they only pay attention to there.
It also makes it yet another place to have to go check to see when one experiences an issue to see if someone else is finding the same bug, or lack of feature.
And frankly yet another place to have issues ignored.
