Lol
So I should pay an extra $30 a year to get free access to an app that I don’t have interest in, and that if I did have interest anyway would only cost $9 a year!!!?
With this and Younify, Trakt is wasting a lot of money, finding itself having to raise prices for no reason and losing users.
Why?
I only have android so I sure as sh1t don’t need this as a feature
Maybe there’s more coming via this partnership program?
And so do they double the price to support the price of each app instead of letting the single app pay?
Why do I have to indirectly pay for third-party apps that I have no interest in using?
what the fuck is even rippple??? and why would a VIP member care for this “partnership”??? (facepalm)
i have an iphone and just tested this dumb app… it’s basically “younify for apple devices with trakt partnership”. this is dumb… uninstalling as i won’t use this just like i don’t use younify…
Thanks for this. I’m also on ios. Just saved me the hassle of doing the same.
The app is actually good, I used it before the official app came out.
But it costs €9 a year, it is absolutely not justifiable in the +30$ increase. I mean, do you make me spend more to give myself for free what I could get for less? It doesn’t make sense.
Apparantly, I installed the app on 15 May 2020 along with Watcht, and I deleted them both the same day. Web Trakt/Mobile Trakt above all, though the iOS app is now also convenient for quick tracking of a movie watched as I walk out of the cinema.
I really, really thought the app was some green-blue themed thing, with just vertically listed the shows and a checkmark to log it. Idk, it was years ago apparantly, or it was another app hahahaha.
Watcht is actually a great Trakt app before the official Trakt app for iOS came out. It’s essentially the same dev that’s on both projects . For an iOS app, i would rank Watcht #2 for being a trakt app behind the trakt app for iOS.
Please keep this on topic to discuss Rippple as the OP posted about. There are plenty of pricing related threads, this isn’t one of them.
Access to Rippple premium is a Trakt VIP perk, just like all the other VIP features. You use some features and don’t use others.
Android will get some love next week.
Rippple is an excellent app. That’s fine if you’re not into it, but that’s just like, your opinion man.
i don’t think so since he’s focused on the offical trakt apps. but it still works. and it’s only for iOS.
Rippple developer or Trakt Product Manager?
Can’t help but notice that the avatar and name of the person posting the Rippple update is identical to that of a Trakt Product Manager.
How about both?
(They are both called Kevin Cador)
Trakt’s what now?
We know Justin. But these perks cost money and it matters what you invest in.
More soon. More promises.
Seriously, what is going on. Like what do you mean next week you should have told us this along with everything weeks ago to explain a 100% price increase!
True, there are… and they are still totally ignored and unanswered
True. But maybe it’s time for you and your team to register that the balance between features in high demand and those that are … not, is going in the wrong direction.
And that impression isn’t just suddenly popular since the price increase. It only gave it way more relevance.
If your customers get the overwhelming impression that you are wasting money and thus decide to charge them more, that’s a problem. And your responsibility.
The difference is TRAKT perks and TRAKT PARTNER perks. No one asked for you to pay outside companies for “perks”, so those (this, Younify and any others you plan) should be a separate tier as they’ll cost more for you to implement than upgrading your own systems. We should have a lesser tier ($30-$40) for TRAKT VIP, and a higher tier ($60) for TRAKT PARTNER perks. It shouldn’t be down to every member to shoulder and pay for those “perks” if they don’t need/want/use them. Like a Sky subscription, you get their basic channels but you can pay extra for their “special” channels or partner ones (Discovery, etc) only if you want them.
But what makes you so certain you are correct. In my experience :
I’m pretty happy with the recent developments with Trakt - it is finally a product/service that does what I need/want, and there is NO other product that meets my needs as closely as Trakt does (by some margin). I’d therefore normally not be compelled to post anything in these threads about pricing/features - because I’m happy with what it does and the direction.
On this occasion I feel I need to post something just to offer an alternative view / some balance.
