We don’t have options related to password on V3, since we removed the option to login with password.
If you really want to change your password, you should still be able to do it in the settings at V2: https://trakt.tv/settings
(If you can’t, it’s probably a cookie issue, please try deleting them and test if it works after doing that)

Using a different browser (or sign out of current browser) go to https://trakt.tv/auth/signin. There’s a prompt for username and password at the bottom , and below that is the forgot password option. That should work.

ploy. I got sent an e-mail with a link. Taking the link not just to another browser but to
another PC, I launched it and began waiting for something to appear. As of this writing,
nothing has.

Was worth a shot. I already gave them my thoughts on this link nonsense which is prone to hijacks (sim, browser). Hopefully they’ll move to passkeys but they should have kept the password reset available.

@Sonply I get that you removed that but had Trakt thought about user side? For now (and needed for when locked out) the username and password login is available. Granted Trakt isn’t high on the list but if my password is pwned or found (nosy roommate, etc.) that would allow the bad actor to access my account and potentially wreak havoc.

With no option to change it that’s a problem.

I, personally, like to rotate all my passwords so not being able to do that is really bugging me (I know more about vulnerabilities and what’s out there than most so it’s a scary thought (also my rant on the other thread about authentication options).

It is still possible to access the settings at V2 and change the password(even for free users). The V3 login doesn’t have a password and the alternative we have for users to login with their password (https://trakt.tv/auth/signin) is the V2 login (free users are redirected after login).
So, once V2 doesn’t exist anymore, with it, the possibility to login with password will also go away, so there will be no need to change the password.

I wanted to strengthen my password as part of a Bitwarden audit. I considered
creating a new account with a Google login to get a passkey and actually did so.
Then I exported my data from the current account, but when I tried to import it
to the new one, that failed. Having found the delete button, I’m now exploring
alternatives with the help of an AI. If one of them can import, I’m golden.

Thanks for the reply. Having found the Delete Account button, I am giving
serious consideration to exporting my data and trying to import it into another
service with a better website and better support. V2 and V3 mean nothing to me.

V2, is the old verison of the website, V3, is the new one. You cannot change your password in the new version as there is no need for it, but you can if you access the settings of the old one with the link I sent, if you want to change it.
If you use it, you should be able to see this:

If this section is not loading with that layout for you, then, please try deleting your cookies and see if you can open that link: https://trakt.tv/settings with that layout after doing that.
If it still doesn’t work, please try in another browser, as you should still be able to access that section.

You say v3 doesn’t use passwords anymore, but when you sign up in v3 you still have to set a password. What’s the point of that then?
