šŸ“¢ Public Feedback Board and Roadmap

Interesting to read through all of this. Also interested to see the updates to the board over the next days/weeks. I don’t know if that is possible with this feedback board technology, but adding a banner on top with a condensed statement explaining that philosophy of closed feedback and discussion in the forums would also help users understand that better without having to go through this entire post.

I understand that you prefer a feedback system where people are not influenced by the comments of others. I still find it a bit disappointing that I cannot discuss feedback with others directly under the idea, but since there actually seems to be no perfect all-in-one solution, I understand that we still have both Trakt > Feature Requests AND the Feedback Board. That might already be happening, but one major thing to improve then is to offer a better environment for discussion regarding feedback, even if it cannot happen on the board directly. One such improvement would be some sort of link between items on the board and in the forums.

A bigger issue for me, however, is that right now, you can only capture community sentiment or importance towards an idea that you’ve ā€œapprovedā€ to show up on the Board. Not regarding ideas that don’t show up there. And since only ideas in production show up, you cannot really measure sentiment and importance towards ideas you’ve not yet decided on unless many people suggest that independently.

Should I also send all of the feedback I’ve previously left in Trakt > Feature Requests on the new Feedback Board, or would that be unnecessary and counterproductive?

@kcador Will those improvements only cover adding new items to the roadmap or also unify/enhance the entire feedback process? While I sort of understand the need for it, we do have three feedback channels now: the feedback board, Trakt > Feature Requests and GitHub directly.

We are currently working on something that will be a replacement for the entire feedback loop:

  • Gather Feedback in one place: as you said, we currently have multiple channels with different format, style, audience, capabilities (votes, comments, public/private,…), etc.
  • Give a better view on the public Roadmap,
  • And improve the Release Notes for beta and stable releases on web, iOS, Android, Apple TV and Android TV.

We also don’t want to loose any of the current feedback we received.
And it also needs to be accessible for all users, not only for GitHub or forums users.

Great, thanks for the update!

@kcador I cannot access the roadmap. Can you help me?

That one is not ready to be shared yet. Still working on the integration with your Trakt account (so you don’t have to log in with your email and have a new password for yet another thing).

→ Coming soon, stay tuned.

I am getting the same ā€œno access to this organizationā€ pop-up and I can’t see anything. I tried many of the previous public links on this forum - including the one you shared here https://roadmap.trakt.tv/. NONE worked, I always get the message, that I am not allowed.

So am I doing something wrong or did you put the roadmap and ability to put in feature requests behind a sign-up that is not working for everybody? Why would I have to sign up to see a roadmap anyway? I don’t want to make a feature request, I am just curious what ideas others have.

Yeah… I lost access as well. Tried to reset my password, but still not allowed to sign in. But I can no longer view anything either :woman_shrugging:

Well yeah Kevin said it’s not ready yet, you will surely be able to access it once it’s ready

But the question remains: Why would we even have to sign in to see a roadmap? Feature requests and voting I understand, but the roadmap itself? I don’t get it.

the service they were using allowed you to vote on the roadmap and leave feedback so you’d need to sign in to be able to see it. that’s why they’re changing to something else now. if you just wanted a roadmap without voting/feedback then yeah signing in would be pointless

I’m closing this topic in favor of this new one 🧭 A New Home for Feedback
