The TVDB option on Trakt website

Trakt show collections. Some streaming services require both TMDB and TVDB for viewing of TV shows. Trakt used to add shows to both databases automatically but now only uses TMDB.
Re Trakt option of ‘report show’ by using this can The TVDB with show ID be added so shows can be watched?
That would be very helpful. Thanks.

Yes, it’s a great suggestion. The “report show” feature could be enhanced to allow users to manually add the TVDB ID, ensuring that shows can be watched on streaming services that require both TMDB and TVDB data. This would significantly improve the user experience for those who encounter compatibility issues.

I doubt that will happen. Trakt have made a business decision a while back to import metadata and artwork from tmdb going forward. More and more older shows are getting migrated to tmdb if not already.

You can still add the tvdb_id into tmdb external ids section and vice versa in tmdb_id from tvdb. When both are linked correctly, it will like both tvdb and tmdb to trakt at the show level, but I don’t think trakt will be importing from tvdb anymore.

But if I have misspoken, I’m sure trakt staff can correct me.

RE TMDB website says external ID’s are locked.
Can you show how to do it?
The shows I am wanting to add are all 2024 and all have IMDB id’s.

TMDB may have temporarily restricted external ID edits. Check the TMDB forums or support channels for the latest updates on this policy. If the restriction is in place, you might need to wait until it’s lifted or explore alternative methods to add the shows to your collection.

If it’s locked, they did it for a reason.

If you need the TVDB ID added on any page and you can’t add the ID on TMDB’s external ID’s, you can report it with their ID and we’ll manually add.
Keep in mind that you won’t see the ID in the website, it is hidden in the background since TVDB isn’t our main datasource.

Thank you very much.
