I would really love for someone to explain to me how it is that anyone could amass thousands of edits on TMDB. Maybe I’m missing something, and there is some sort of program that does things automatically, and shaves hours off the time it takes to add correct information for cast and character names to TV Shows and movies?

There aren’t any public tools available I think. One of the ?previous? moderators on TMDB “Paszt” had an awesome extension which allowed you to import a movie from IMDB and bulk importing the entire cast list but the current redesign broke it and it looks like he officially abandoned it - only have this copy of it if you want to look at sample code GitHub - sp1ti/TMDbTools: Chrome extension with tools for TMDb, includes tools to help import data from IM.

this is quite useful!
I have to be honest, I have never successfully been able to use anything from Github and make whatever it was that was there work.
