Trakt gets a makeover!

Same as a lot of others here, my main issue is I don’t like the purple for this. Especially at night it’s way too aggressive on the eyes compared to the red. Will have to tinker with a stylus theme to change this if it doesn’t get rolled back.

Also the new logo feels very generic whereas the old one actually had identity, though I don’t care all too much about that. Will just be some minor getting used to finding the new favicon on my tabs. But it does feel like a downgrade.

All in all just feels like a whole lot of unnecessary work for something that nobody particularly wanted.

Love the purple, hate the logo.

I love the new color, but I’m gonna really miss the old Logo…

Sorry, but this is a massive accessibility fail. You’ve made this whole website so much harder for me to use. The UX is much worse for me now, bordering on unusable.

The contrast here is way off. It’s not strong enough. The purple text in both light mode and dark mode is an accessibility nightmare. Even in Light mode, which I had to switch to to read the headings better, the navigation is still dark and the links are hard to read. The purple progress bars in the Up Next section are hard to see.

And the logo looks like Instagram made a todo app.

I hope you didn’t pay for this because I’d be looking for a refund.

For anyone having usability issues, like me, I use a Chrome extension called User CSS and used the code below to get it back to a somewhat usable state:

* {
    --brand-primary: #ff0000 !important;
}
body {
  font-size: 1.5em !important;
}
a {
  color: #ff0000;
}
div.progress-bar {
  background-color: #f00;
}
header#top-nav a.selected {
  color: #f00 !important;
}
h1, h2, h3, header#top-nav a.selected, div.see-more {
  font-weight: 900;
}
h6 div.premiere.episode-type-season-premiere {
  background-color: #757575 !important;
  border-radius: 3px;
  letter-spacing: 0.05em;
  padding: 0.4em 0.6em !important;
  text-transform: uppercase;
}
h3 {
  font-size: 1.0em !important;
}
a.feed-icon {
  color:#000 !important;
}

I thought I had toggled a setting or there was a Halloween theme going on as I was using the site at the time.

I like the colors, the purple accent looks good to me although I haven’t really used it long enough to know if I will adjust like others have mentioned.

I’m not sold on the logo though, I struggled to find it amongst my quick tabs, I do see what was trying to be achieved though, ticking off lists, shows and movies.

I think I still prefer the old icon maybe if that was changed to reflect the new color scheme.

Wow! This is looking absolutely fantastic so far! Saw it change in real time. Love it, keep up the great work! There was even an animation to transform the old logo to the new one. That’s a sweet detail!

The purple colors can be a little difficult to read in the site’s dark mode.

:grimacing: I’m not sure… I won’t comment on the creative aspect of the logo but this feels like a makeover just for the sake of it. It looks like Trakt has lost its identity. I believe the logo could be refreshed or modernized, but it shouldn’t deviate more than 20-30% from the original or it risks becoming a unknown “brand”.

As for the new colors, I’m not sure how I feel about them either. For a regular user, it’s like YouTube suddenly going purple, Steam turning green, or WhatsApp becoming yellow. For people familiar with these apps, it wouldn’t be a pleasant change.

Edit: Also it’s shape, the circular version looks a lot better here.

I feel like the purple is more difficult to read on the dark mode, but the white text with the new font on the dark background is fine. Meanwhile, the purple looks fine on light mode, but the new font is harder to read. And, I think if you’re going to have a workable UI, it needs to work well on both.

Also, perhaps I’ll get used to it over time, but it does strike me as less stylish and unique compared to the old one. It looks more like a logo I’d have on a to-do app, so it really doesn’t standout the same way.

I like it overall. I will say, purple link = visited link in my head, so that’s something I feel I will need to get use to.

I dig it. Purple is great and over the last 8ish years I’ve developed a bit of a negative association with red.

love purple over red, but I have to say it took me off guard, lol; and I still struggle to find the correct bookmark as I get used to it.

I get the :heavy_check_mark: for Trakting, but I have to wait and see how I feel about it over the T, I liked the T, but great work, can’t wait to see what’s next!

Yes, PLEASE don’t change the logo on the iOS app! It would look like a ToDo app instead of Trakt. And of course color is everything when you’re tapping icons on your smartphone; we need the Red. (You may want to look at how Drafts (getdrafts.com) handles their iOS icons. They let people pick from many colors in Settings, as some like to change them for Fall or Christmas!)

Somehow the new logo doesn’t look like a T. I get the ‘checking off’ (‘ticking’ for British members) concept but it no longer resembles a T.

My favorite color, love it!!!

Just looking at the logo so far. I love it. These comments made me flash back to like 10 years ago when you made the trakt 2.0 layout. And everyone missed the yellow and blue!

People will just news some time getting used to the new look and feel :smiley:

wow a lot of hate about he new look :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I love it, the purple is awesome and looks absolutely fantastic in dark mode. The logo stands out, and the new animations on click are awesome. Fantastic graphic design. Do not change it, ot if a lot of people complaiing make options to change colors.

Love it!!! Great work !!!
