Excited for what else you got in store for us Justin! ![]()
really sad about the rebranding.
the purple is hard to read
and the logo looks very generic
curious what sparked the sudden change of design…
I understand that people don’t like the new color. I love it and the font I get used too it. I do think indeed that the Old Trakt logo was better. Maybe purplefy that one? But it now indeed look like a To Do app. I hope we ever get a theme system for Trakt, multiple themes and the user can choose it, maybe even an accent color? So that it is CSS only?
Like others said the new icon makes Trakt feel like a to-do App to me, so about chores instead of fun. I think that’s the wrong message…
Which font are you using in the logo?

Does the (lower case) “k” of that font really look like a(n uppercase) “K”? Or did you use a Small Caps “K” there? (I think it looks ugly; a regular lower case “k”, as in the title of this topic, looks much better to me).
What worries me most though is this:
This new logo is just the beginning, folks. We’ve got some super exciting stuff coming down the pipeline that we can’t wait to show you. Stay tuned!
First the price increase, then the rebranding, so what’s next? An IPO or acquisition?
Text and icons are being cut off on the Dashboard Page.

I have a baaaad feeling about this. ![]()
Now it looks like a todo list for instagram nonsense and the whole site looks like a custom css gone wrong.
i hate it, can i get back the red please?
The new color is cool, but this font makes my eyes hurt. Please pick some better one ![]()
I don’t think I like any of these changes, lol. The logo feels like a to-do app logo, font is fine I guess but hate the font color.
Love the purple, but the font choice… not so much ![]()
Respectfully, you need to hire a different designer.
- That shade of purple is hard to read in the dark mode and it doesn’t look good in the light mode either.
- Changing the logo to a «default todo app icon with a background gradient» is a creative flop.
- The new font looks cheap and clumsy.
You had good branding for so long. Not many social websites can pull off red as their primary color, but you did. And now you just tossed it aside.
Changing things around is good, but you should be careful when changing something that worked well enough for so long.
This looks so bad…, now IT LOOKS LIKE A DATING APP with this NEW LOGO.
Maybe it’s just getting used to, but it feels so off, maybe it’s also because some things are still red. But for example “Upcoming Schedule” just looks sooo busy now, maybe because of the font or maybe because of the color purple, but it’s not pleasing for my eyes.
I think change can be great, and I appreciate the effort.
However, I’m not really a fan of the new logo. It doesn’t quite do it for me. Also, the purple color isn’t my favorite—it’s less readable than the red we had before. I just found the red much clearer and easier on the eyes.
Keep up the good work, and I’m looking forward to seeing how things develop!
this is going to be a huge thread, one that trakt never had

I now relate with the logo concerns. Your trademark is the T, indeed this looks like a logo from a dating app (awesome comment) !!!
Twitter blew it completely. Consider the logo change a bit.
Still loving the purple and fonts. I don’t get the complaining about how awfull it looks, in dark mode i’m in love with it!
There are mentions of changes in apps, I use official Android app and I cant see any new updates available in playstore or changes in the app itself.
Will this be rolled out in coming days if yes then release notes need to be changed to web only purple version release. Last update for android app is from september 4.
wow a lot of negativity in here. I’m not totally getting the “it looks like a to do list app” critique about the logo. The original logo didn’t exactly tell me anything about what Trakt does. The name does way more than a T logo ever did to convey what the app or site would be used for. This logo uses a checkmark, one of the most prominent features of the site. If I look up “movie tracking” or “tv tracking” or “movie lists” in an app store, I think this makes it pretty clear that it’s not just a generic movie review app, it’s about checking off the things you watch. It makes sense to me. But I’ve only been a major user for 4 years, maybe I’m just not as attached to the “brand identity” as other people.
Getting a new look, logo and color is all fine by me, sometimes things just change.
BUT i really have difficulties with the purple text color.
Especially my head hurts, the text gets blurry and i get kinda dizzy with reading the purple titles in the “Upcoming” section on the dashboard.
I dont have a problem with the purple progress bars and purple highlights (i mean i can read it and i dont get dizzy immediately), but the titles and text/links are really hard on my eyes for some reason.
I really hope there will be a function coming, which some could use to get for less “color” and more readability for people like me, oh maybe the old colors ? ( i had no issue at all with the old design ! )
and i really liked the old logo design alot. It really looks more like a to do app logo now.
I think the new colors and log still needs a lot of getting used to, but 1 thing I think doesn’t really work out nicely, is the progress tracking on TV shows. Previously you had green for watched episodes, and red for not watched, that made a lot more sense to me than the green/purple combo ![]()

Perhaps a mixed theme with red and purple could work, instead of going all purple, the logo also starts with red in the bottom left corner, so why not take adavantage of that and use the purple for more visual aspects while keeping some of the red parts in, just my 2cents (I’m not a designer so that might look even worse
)
I haven’t look at the progress bar, i like the purple in the bar but yes the not watched episodes make no sense with purple, they should be red.
