Trakt removes a show from my watchlist as soon as I mark a single episode as watched. Luckily, my calendar is still updated for all remaining episodes of the season. However, if this is a returning series (not ended or cancelled), I have to remember to manually put the show back on my watchlist.
(How) Can I automatically put a show back on my watchlist?
yeah they will show up on your weekly calendar (dashboard) on the week the next season will premiere, and the episode will show in your up next on the day. But no not months in advance (unless you search through your calendar)
Yeah, like the user above said. If you are already watching a show, when new episodes release, the show will show up in your calendar and in your up next without you having to add them to your watchlist.
The watchlist is basically for shows and movies you haven’t started, that’s why they are removed once you have watched them.
The watchlist works as intended. Shows, movies, seasons, episodes stay in your watchlist until you watch it. When you have watched it, it auto gets removed from watchlist.
You can always add it back to your watchlist, but as soon as you watch it again, it will auto remove it from watchlist.
Best thing you can do is add it as a favorite, add it to your collection, or create a custom list and add it to your custom list.
I’d recommend using those features for their intended purpose. If the goal is to track the shows you’re watching, that is already done automatically as you guys all stated.
Where can I read about the intended purpose of each feature?
(I probably have been using the watchlist in the wrong way)
Which feature can I use to get notified (or see myself) that the release date of a new season has been announced (when it’s announced, not when it’s about to start)?
As far as the release date announcement notifications, Trakt doesn’t have a feature for that. To see for yourself, you could use the feeds/custom calendar of a custom list with your currently airing shows you’re caught up on, a filter of your progress section, or saved advanced search filters. You could use IFFTT to set up notifications from feeds or calendar notifications!
I don’t think you are using the Watch List correctly or understand it’s intent. I think someone mentioned above that that’s a default list where you put movies/shows that you haven’t started yet (or they haven’t been released) but intend to eventually watch when they are initially released. I actually like that they are automatically removed once watched…it keeps that list cleaner.
Also, like someone else said above, create your own custom list for the functionality i believe you are trying to achieve.
That’s what I do. I have a watchlist, but also a personal list where I move shows in and out as I want.
If you use the Rippple app, it has a setting to automatically add shows back onto your watchlist after you’ve checked into any episode. Another option.
I wouldn’t recommend using this setting since it essentially breaks how the Trakt watchlist is supposed to work. Trakt already knows what you’re watching, so there is no need to keep a show on your watchlist.
I agree using a personal list is the better way to go.
