So I just marked House of the Dragon S1 as watched and this removed whole show from the watchlist which is definitely not what I would expect.
This is how the watchlist works. Check this article for more info.
Definitely find it counterintuitive. So what if I watched 1 episode of something and donât want to see the rest?
You can hide the show from the calendar or progress page if you stop watching it.
I find âcounterintuitiveâ be an extremely polite description for this baffling behavior.
If all episodes have been watch AND the show is known to have ended, then it would make sense to remove the show from the watchlist. But if the show has not ended, that means a new episode or season might be coming so the show should remain in the watchlist showing all episodes watched.
If the show is no longer in the watchlist then what good is my Up Next? I will still have to manually become aware of the new season and go add the show back to my watchlist!
Up next uses the same data as your progress page. The watchlist does not track what youâre watching in any detail, itâs for what you want to watch. The progress page (and up next) is for what youâre watching.
But how does Trakt know to display a show in my up next it has been removed from the watchlist? How are Watchlist and Up Next not the same thing?
Maybe there is some fundamental difference in language between Trakt and every other show tracking service Iâve tried. Is there a basic Trakt 101 video I have missed along the way?
What can I use to house every show I am both actively and hoping to someday watch that will then keep all of those shows showing in my Up Next until either A) I remove them or B) the show has ended AND al episodes have ben seen?
I feel this is unnecessarily complicated and, worst of all, incoherent.
Your reply just proves it because you said âwatchlist is for what you want you want to watchâ but this is contrary to actual behavior and the reason for my complaint: I saw all the episodes so far but still want to watch the upcoming ones yet trakt actually removes show from watchlist in this case.
Which means watchlist in fact no longer represents what I want to watch.
Perhaps Iâm missing some utility of current behavior but IMHO changing it to whatâs requested here would make things simpler and more intuitive.
There is a difference between wanting to watch something and having actually watched at least 1 episode of it. Once you watch 1 episode, you are watching the show and your up next and progress pages are used to keep track of it.
There is a setting to included watchlisted shows on your progress page. That lists shows with 0% progress and once you start watching it, the progress will start increasing.
You are watching the show once youâve watched at least 1 episode. Thatâs why the progress page takes over.
The watchlist is for shows you have not watched even 1 episode of.
I donât understand what all the fuss is about honestly. Itâs not a watching list. Itâs a plan to watch list. Just like on every other database Iâve ever used. Goodreads has mutually exclusive shelves for read, to read and reading. And MyAnimeList has mutually exclusive statuses for watching/reading, plan to watch/read, completed, on hold and dropped.
If youâre all so dead set maybe the name should be changed to âplan to watchlistâ but I think thatâs ugly.
I donât want my watching shit in my watchlist at least.
@justin is it possible to get a setting to delete your ptw list fully or perhaps even any list?
I like to start over and actually add what i plan to watch not just everything that seems fun. And for now Iâm just completing stuff that I still gotta finish hahaha.
Yes, combined with this extra qualifier it is now correct. In other words
Watchlist is for shows you want to watch but have not watched even 1 episode of.
Why not make it simpler (thus less confusing)? Whatâs the upside of this complication?
With current behavior I think a more apt name would be âSee laterâ
Yes, go into manage mode and there is an option to delete all items from any list.
