French site

Hello,

I would like to know if the site will be translated into French?

Thanks

It seems like never before, because Trakt didn’t even respond to this post.

There’s about 10 other posts about translations.
Maybe search the forums.

That’s maybe why :see_no_evil:

Pretty sure it won’t be done.

If you make the website multi-lingual, it makes no sense to not allow comments in those languages. Which means they need a ton of moderation power.

I estimate that when you pay $30 per year, you can expect a translation of the site into French. Especially in our time. As far as I’m concerned I’m not quite sure it won’t be done, but I’m 100% sure it won’t be done. In short, I conclude that Trakt prefers to collect our money and despise its customers by not even answering their question. Sad mentality. Not sure if I’ll extend my subscription.

Not true at all. We appreciate all your suggestions and ideas. Translations have been requested in the forums several times. It’s something we will consider, but is unfortunately low priority. Allowing comments in other languages will require additional moderation work. Translating titles and overviews is more possible since we can get the data from TMDB.

It’s not a priority, but it should be, because I think most users want the site in their own language. If you created a questionnaire asking whether translating the site into several languages should be a priority, I think more than 80% would say yes. Nowadays, it’s unthinkable for a website not to support several languages.
I hope they rethink their priorities and it would be a good thing if they still had this feature this year.

PS:
I’m available to help translate into pt-PT

In the first instance, it would be useful to choose the language in which the data is fetched; at least as a VIP feature. :slightly_smiling_face:

As for moderation, I understand that it’s difficult to manage comments in unfamiliar languages. I don’t know if it’s possible to allow ONLY English comments, even with a fully translated app?

But if you’re planning to translate the application (and the site) into French, I’d be happy to help too. I’ve done it before for another app. :+1:
