Lifetime Subscribtion

Would Trakt consider creating a Lifetime VIP Subscription, instead of Monthly/Yearly.
I would like to support the team, with a Lifetime VIP, if this would be an option.

This has been asked several times (on Reddit particularly). Justin stated that it would be really hard on future revenue if this was available and ruled out any lifetime memberships.

What kind of price of price would you expect to pay for that?

(How many times the yearly price of $60?)

Yeah, from a business standpoint (and those asking for this obviously have never run a business where their main revenue comes from subscriptions) a lifetime subscription is just not feasible at all. Unless you want to pay $2k up front, that roughly amounts to 33.33 years worth of subscriptions. Do you think you will use this app for 30+ years?

Plex seems to do this just fine ?

Only 3x the price of 1 year?

I wonder how that can be viable for them.

Wouldn’t all heavy users buy that, once?

Plex has other means to make money. For example:

Plex provides free-to-watch movies, shows, and live TV by displaying ads before and during playback

That includes Plex Pass members

@justin has already said that memberships is the main source of revenue for this site. He’s also mentioned that they make very little off of ads. You cannot compare Plex with Trakt…they are two totally different businesses with totally different business plans. Trakt isn’t in the streaming service. Plex makes money from several areas, where as Trakt makes money through one main revenue stream.

Adding on to this there’s also services like Nebula who have lifetime memberships as a way to get a bunch of cash in the short term. Essentially it’s a round of raising capital but from customers instead of VC.

Trakt’s primary revenue stream is memberships. They don’t have alternatives like Plex. They aren’t making a bunch of productions that need a lot of money like Nebula. They have one main revenue stream and that’s subscriptions.

Simply put, lifetime memberships don’t make sense for every service.

I have a Lifetime VIP account. I’ve had it for years and don’t recall how I got it. I imagine if you looked around a little bit harder that you’d be able to figure it out.

That seems impossible. But if you do, you might have wanted to keep that on the DL lol. Trakt might take that away as I don’t recall Trakt ever doing lifetime VIP.

Are you sure you aren’t credited yearly and just missing that on your statement :see_no_evil:

No you don’t. And saying you don’t remember where you got something that doesn’t exist makes this even less believable

Stop being snowflakes and flagging peoples posts…that’s more childish than posting something fake like telling people you have a lifetime subscription.
