Missing Data

First off, I appreciate you’ll hard work at getting the database n Trakt website and soon the mobile apps back online. now i understand that there more data being recovered and/or imported now but i have a question…

now im not gon mark any shows via trakt for now while the data recovery still in progress so as to avoid multiple/duplicate plays and luckily i been using TV Time, Rippple, and Simkl in the meantime, however, i noticed on the website that my latest watched episode was on October 22. i have watched episodes n movies since then in fact my watched history data should go up to November 11 in my case as that where i left off.

so in my situation, is the data from October 22 to November 11 the date where i left off from a watched history standpoint still being recovered and/or imported OR is the data from that specific timeframe corrupted n therefore permanently gone?

It sounds like the apps you’re using didn’t set any data to your Trakt profile after October 22. The watched history is fully up to date as of Nov 7 without any data loss. We are recovering the plays from Nov 7 - Dec 11 only.

I’m sorry for posting everywhere but i would like an answer, it took me a day for that

Can you please verify what happens with collections and list. Will data there going to appear. I have deleted 160 movies from collection!! And there they are again! Will the total restore applies on watch history or everything like lists and collections?

Only watched history is still recovering. Collection and list data started with the Nov 7 data and then we filled in new data from that point on.

Anything removed from the collection would be back if you removed it after Nov 7. Those data tables are extremely large so it’s unfortunately not possible to read the entire thing and go back to remove any items.

sorry the answer is confusing.

you say “only watched histroty is STILL recovering”. So everything else is done ? what we see now is what we get ?

then “Anything removed from the collection would be back if you removed it after Nov 7.” so if i removed them after nov 7 they will suddenly once the restore completes(?) dissapear from my collection ? Cause i probably did remove them after nov 7 otherwise they wont be here now.

is that correct ?

Yes, everything except watched history is done.

no no, it not the apps, i was marking watched episodes/movies directly on the Trakt website and trakt android/iOS apps but it appears the data from October 22 to November 11 is still missing and message says data up to November 7 has been recovered…so is my watched data from October 22 to well November 7 (since data is still be recovered from November 7 onward) permanently gone?

I see data added up until Nov 7 on your account. However, the watched at date is set prior to that date. For example, Marley Griffith Burnell's TV show and movie watched history - Trakt has the watched at date on Oct 22, but you actually clicked the button on Nov 7 and I’m assuming set a specific watched date.

yes i selected specific watch date for the episodes I watched…I feel there is missing data from specific watched dates from October 22 to November 11…for example there are shows such as The Watcher that i have completed but now reflects as if I still have more episodes to watch when i don’t as I have finished watching that series. there are movies i have watched during that timeframe as well that missing…plus seems as tho for some episodes it got me being further behind than i actually am if that makes any sense…

i feel like that data is gone for that specific watched date time period…i wait til next weekend before comparing anything in terms of more watched data being recovered n imported so as to avoid duplicate/multiple plays

also will there be some sort of import button on the website and mobile apps?
.

I didn’t see any evidence of missing data. The Nov 7 restore was all data at that time. Yeah, let’s see what watched history is recovered for your account and then see if that has the missing data. We’ll put a dashboard message when the data is ready and you can choose to import or ignore it.

wanna make sure i understand this please bear with me:

i select specific watch dates, however the data recovery is for up to November 7…so even tho i selected episodes on November 7 for specific dates in the past it only include data from date i selected up to November 7 that i selected as watched in past… like the data is going by the day i clicked the button not necessarily when i watched episode…

example on november 8 , i selected episodes as watched on october 23 or whatever but because i clicked the button on November 8 that watched data even tho i selected it as watched for past dates should be recovered with this upcoming batch of recovered data? just wanna make sure i understand

Yes, that is correct. I am talking about the date when you actually entered the data, not the watched date you set it to.

I’m sorry but that does not add up.

  • If i have delete them before Nov7 , say Nov4 then the full restore of your database should now have my watchlist in correct order, minus 160 movies.
  • If i have delete them after Nov7, say Dec 1 then since you are saying that EVERYTHING is restored up to date and only the watch history is still in restore mode i should have my watchlist in correct order, minus 160 movies.

None of the cases applies. So i believe that something is wrong, or a lot of things are not restored (the private lists also have entries i removed but its a small amount of entries)

Can you please verify your findings ?

Everything from nov 7 is as it was. Recovered. Any additions to lists and stuff have now also been recovered. Save for some watch history.

But deletions of list items for example have not.
If you deleted stuff after nov 7 you’ll have to clean it up again.

What are you missing?

so it is confusing as hell and not properly stated

I’m not missing i have more ! I have deleted 160 movies from watchlist. And they are back!!!

The way I read that was that due to how large the tables are, it’s not really feasible to do what you seem to want when it was imported from backup or potentially backups in plurar.

why it is not feasible. A full backup is a full backup.
I will accept the answer sorry we only backup watch history or only have full until nov 7.

So far everyone says that EVERYTHING has been restored, including collections, lists etc BUT the watch history is still in progress and be completed by this week. That is the official statement of trakt.

So what are we talking about and arguing ? Why if everything is restored uptodate (i mean until dec 11 when the crash occur) i do have on my lists items that have been removed or items not there that i had addedd before dec 11 and after nov 7 and of course 160 movies on my watch list which i have removed after nov7 and befove dec 11.

Am i crazy ? do i not make sense ?
Again if Justin comes and says sorry backup does not include those stuff that is fine (for the moment) but i have conflicting answers about that. I quote "everything is back except watch history which is in progress"

Everything is back that was missing. But stuff is not deleted that you deleted.

Just like Sonply has to go through all handled reports of stuff he has deleted that past month.

It’s not rocket science. Justin said:

“Anything removed from the collection would be back if you removed it after Nov 7. Those data tables are extremely large so it’s unfortunately not possible to read the entire thing and go back to remove any items.”

just wanted u to know that i saw the message on the website about the recovery being completed…i reviewed the recovered plays and everything appears to have been fully recovered with no data loss thankfully. i then choose the option to import the data and everything appears to be back to where i left off…n no missing plays at least at first glance…but i kno fo sho once i start entering new data again…

thank you n your team for ya hard work n restoring the database n preventing major data corruption…

I imported all available once the site came back online yet my entire collection list (of roughly 400 titles) that I added manually maybe a week or so before the outage is gone safe for one title. Did I not follow an unknown step or is that permanent and I need to start over and manually re-add all titles?

Watchlist came back in its entirety, just the collection tab died on me.
