I have cancelled mine too wow what a joke too been a member for 7 years too
It’s the age of parasites, everyone tries to jump in between some chain and proclaim they are indispensable, to such a degree that they fool themselves too.
Sad that to see it happen to my trakt.
Wut streaming service is worth 60 bucks?
A month? Probably none of them.
A year? $5/mo. is a great deal for occasional access to actual content.
Trakt doesn’t provide that, though. ![]()
VIP for 13 years. Good bye.
Good bye! Shame you chose not to keep grandfathering
Yeah cancelt mine too. 60 is ridiculous. Nothing “new” and still those ugly design colors also.
Any good alternatives?
Been a user for 13 years. Moved to being a paid user 2 years ago despite the price feeling a lot higher in my country (India). Signed up to support Trakt even though I did not need the conveniences VIP provides. The iOS app is a nice to have, I mostly use the web version. Plex sync is great (even though I was a huge fan of the free Plex plugin approach to sync things).
Being grandfathered into a price is fairly common. Is there a post somewhere talking about the rationale here? I’d love to understand this. My renewal is in March and I can’t see myself paying the equivalent of 4.5 years of Disney+/Amazon Prime in my country for Trakt. I’m going back to using a free sync option or building a better one myself if the APIs are available. If you’re going to stop APIs from being available to free users, I’ll gladly port my data out to another service. Open to hear suggestions for alternate tools.
The Trakt team is rather bad at communication, but did they did mention (some) reasons for the price increase here:
The price increase was first to cover our infrastructure (servers) costs. Then to cover the team and thus our product development costs.
I thought I would read that something has changed and Trakt backtracked.
Such a shame ![]()
so after the blast, does anyone have any statistics on the decrease and cancellation of subscriptions.
Cause i have my doubts in the actual impact.
I’d doubt Trakt would reveal reductions, but site traffic / hits are easily found statistics. The impact is clearly visible and directly linked timewise to the pricing structure change.
Also it seems very safe to assume the email campaign containing the special offer of a 50% reduction to return and resubscribe is indicative there is a substantial monetary impact.
I’d think also if someone would want to delve into it, it would be easily found data to see the reduction in number of watchers / plays of movies and series.
I posted a screenshot a while back, traffic has definitely dropped. Many have walked away from this site.
I cancelled the moment I got the e-mail months back, September is when my VIP is set to expire so I came back to see if they listened to their community (in which case I’d resubscribe), they did not, so my 10 years will end.
My VIP renewal date is also in September, but Trakt did still not notify me about the price hike.
It’s still listed as $30/year… (and I never received an email)
yeah, well, i liked to support trakt but the new pricing is way off, sadly. had to cancel aswell ![]()
