No longer able to sort by "recently aired"

There previously was an option to sort your progress page by recently aired but it’s no longer there. Why was this removed and can we please put it back?

Also, has the reddit for Trakt completely went away?

That sort option was replaced with “release date”. Several of the options on the progress page were updated to be more clear, and they also support ascending and descending ordering.

Thanks for the follow up but this shows unaired episodes, it used to be “recently aired” so the list was things that were just on TV. Now if I sort by it, I see future episodes of shows I’m following but I want to see only episodes that have aired and sorted by most recent air date. Can we have that option back?

Hiding completed shows should remove those shows.

It does but completed shows should be in view when we look at the master list of shows recently aired. Just seems like recently watched with completed and non completed shows should be included but recently aired should not include future airings. Can we get “recently aired” added back?

“Recently aired” was always my default view and by the looks of it the “Release date” works the same? It used to show upcoming episodes too - “hiding completed” still does the trick?
Not sure what the benefit is of showing everything, including 100%ed shows just up to the current date?

btw: the direct link does still work https://trakt.tv/users/me/progress/watched/recently-aired

I think it’s because people were complaining about that who didn’t like using the calendar for that or something.

Can’t really find it in feature requests old topics.

I absolutely remember there being threads about it.

Thanks for the direct link @sp1ti this really needs to be put back in because it’s the best way to see aired shows based on order of recent air date but not including upcoming shows which is what happens if I follow @justin 's steps, which is not at all ideal and not at all as it was when “Recently Aired” was an option as is seen here: https://trakt.tv/users/me/progress/watched/recently-aired?

But why do you need that specific information - as in up to “today” only? I don’t see the benefit in tracking something you’ve completed - it’s just clutter. If you’re not seeing it then that means you’re up to date anyways? And given that it’s sorted by recency you probably also know that you saw it?
If it was renamed for consistency then I think it’s fine to have you scroll down just a little bit (you just see more than before)? If anything justin could look into an option ala “hide unaired episodes” for the filter?
Otherwise as marr suggested there is also the calendar if you just want to see recent episodes? https://trakt.tv/calendars/my/shows/2023-07-04

I love seeing what I’ve watched in the same view as what I haven’t, keeps shows top of mind if a new episode is coming up or not or if the show is still active in the current season but if we have a truly recently aired, not shows that haven’t aired yet, we can remove completed for those who don’t want that but you’ll have a list of what’s been aired and not what hasn’t been aired. I don’t want to see future release dates instead of recently aired, we should be able to have both.

I put together that something on the site had been updated when my Up Next suddenly resorted itself. But now every time I set it to sort by Release Date it resets to Last Watched whenever I reload the Dashboard. Up Next is remembering my preference now, the Progress page still keeps resetting.

Is stuff still being worked on and I should just keep manually changing it until the dust settles, or is this a bug?

The progress page never saved my sorting preferences hence I use the specific URL bookmark

You need to set your default sorting in the settings page. There are separate sorting options for the dashboard up next, watched progress, and collected progress.

I think there are 2 ways of handling this. One is adding the recently aired sorting back and the other is adding a new filter to ignore unreleased episodes that you’d use when sorting by release date. I’ll test out the filter to see if that makes sense with any other sort options.

Immediately after the Dashboard resorted itself, I went into settings to double check everything. I changed the setting for Dashboard but somehow skimmed over that there was a separate one for Progress. Thank you.

Can we please add the recently aired sorting back to how it was previously?

I’ll have an update out tomorrow. The release date sorting will ignore episodes with a future release date. This is the same as the old previously aired, just with a new name. There is a new option if you want to include future episodes in the release date sorting.
