Plex Sync BETA

Glad you got it working and I’m sure this info will be useful for some other folks too.

That would generate a new token, so I wonder if the original Plex access token somehow got revoked. In any case, glad to see you were able to get a sync!

I will look into this and I agree that would be a nice feature.

You want your 2 Plex libraries to sync to 2 separate Trakt libraries?

It looks like nothing has synced since I reset things 48 hours ago. Got the status “Your most recent sync was 7 Jul 2025 19:31.” but I’ve watched a handful of shows on my Plex server since then that haven’t synced. Seeing anything at your end that can explain what’s happening? I just confirmed that I can turn off wi-fi on my phone and access my server, so it’s definitely reachable from the outside world.

Several updates were just released. This is getting closer to production ready and no longer beta.

  • Improved error messaging on the settings page if Trakt can’t connect to your server.
  • Emails sent if your server becomes unreachable or fails to connect during the hourly sync.
  • You can choose which individual libraries are synced. Only libraries containing shows or movies will show up.
  • Manual sync button added.

It can connect to your server ok, so not really sure. Please try the new manual sync option and see if that pulls in any data.

Hi. I have port 32400 open and people remotely streaming with no issue, but when I try to enable Plex sync I get to the Security Alert Sign in Screen and Trakt asks me to select my server. It shows up and I do. But then it says " Trakt can’t connect to your Plex server. Please make sure port 32400 is open for remote connections."

How can I best provide logs/info for this? Thanks!

@Martorious Please try again. It appears I was too aggressive on the timeout setting so I pushed a potential fix.

Any idea when you might add port override to Plex Sync?

Hi @justin , great work so far. Just curious - will there possibly be an option to push Trakt watchlist to Plex watchlist?

Thanks, that worked! Maybe a stupid question, and maybe this isn’t the place, but when I have it enabled and watch something on plex, it will be marked as watched and collected? Can it not be added to Collection? Can the refresh time be changed?

What if something IS marked as watched on Trakt and it’s NOT watched on Plex, will this overwrite the watched status on Trakt?

Since you mentioned this should also sync both ways, what if something is NOT marked as watched on Trakt but it IS watched on Plex, does this overwrite it?

If you add a movie or TV show to the server, it’ll show up as collected on Trakt, when you watch sed movie or show, it’ll show as watched on Trakt.

No…I want my primary plex library servers’ “collections in plex” to sync to my backup library/server…its stupid that Plex doesn’t do this internally, so it would be nice if Trakt did it for me.

I have a movie collection for kids I maintain on my main server, I add movies to the collections…often on my backup server, kids will watch movies there (locally), so if the collection that would be updated from primary server where I make the changes, it would be super helpful. (Keeping them in sync, vs manually updated both collections)

I have 32400 open (as always) and within PLEX I’m “fully accessible”/everything is green.

Within Trakt my drop downs all show up and show my libaries/users, but I still get an email saying “Trakt can’t connect to your Plex server. Please make sure port 32400 is open for remote connections.”

So am I correct that there’s still no way to have this new Plex Sync handle more than one Plex Server at a time?

Current Webhook doesn’t care about ports, and handles all Plex Servers.

Nothing chnaged on my setup, and I have no sync since 2 days (last was on the 13) and I have the error message that port 32400 can’t be reached. Any idea?
Thanks.

I think this was a temporary issue, or perhaps it was taking longer to connect and timing out on our side. I increased the timeout to hopefully help.

Correct, single server for now.

Might be a similar issue with a timeout since it seems to take a while to connect with your server. You can try manually triggering a sync from the settings page, or save settings to clear the errors and have it try again.

Still nothing, sits there saying “QUEUED” indefinitely. And yes, I’ve clicked “Save Settings” as well as ignored it to see if that was the culprit - it wasn’t. :upside_down_face:

So I tried to save settings and redo a sync, did not work. I disconnected and reconnected and I have the same error message:

As stated, nothing has changed in my setup and port 32400 is setup:

I started getting daily emails that Trakt can’t connect to my Plex Server. Plex Sync seems to be working though. Not sure what I’m missing here.

Seems like the same problem as I have.
