Automatically sync your streaming services!

I’m super excited to announce the new Streaming Scrobbler! This feature is a game changer and allows automatic syncing from Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Apple TV+, and Max (and more services to come).

First, make sure you have the most recent iOS or Android Trakt app installed.

iOS Android

Next, follow these steps:

After you connect a service in the Trakt app, it asks if you want to sync existing data or just new data moving forward. Your initial data will be imported about 10 minutes after you link a service.

You can check your connected services on the website or in the app.

Each data sync is listed on the scrobbler settings page and includes the service and counts. Each count is linked to view the specific data that was synced. You can also undo the entire sync to remove all the items from your Trakt account.

What services are supported?

  • Netflix
  • Prime Video
  • Hulu
  • Apple TV+
  • Max
  • and more to come!

Is this on iOS and Android?

Yes! Each beta app allows you to connect your streaming services. The connection has to be done in app.

What data is synced?

Your full watched history and ratings are synced. We hope to sync your watchlists in a future update too.

How long until my data is synced?

The initial data sync occurs about 10 minutes after you linked a service. Moving forward, data will be synced every 24 hours.

Hulu initial import

Hulu doesn’t seem to have watched dates, so your history is imported using the original release date for the items. For new things you watch, those should have the correct watched date and time.

Why did some stuff not sync over to Trakt?

Almost all of your data should sync over, but sometimes we can’t find a match on TMDB. This might happen with alternative versions, or old content that has long been removed from the streaming service.

Do you store my passwords?

No, your streaming passwords are not stored! Your password is only used on device and not sent to Trakt or Younify. As a general rule, we also recommend turning on multi factor authentication for all your streaming accounts for added protection.

Will this duplicate plays?

No, we ignore any items already marked as watched in your Trakt account. This includes the initial sync and the daily syncs.

Do I need to watch things on my phone?

No, you can watch anywhere like normal. The data is synced in the background using the watched history for your connected services and does’t require watching on your phone.

How can I sign into Max if I have an account through my TV provider?

The first option is to create a password so you can directly sign into your Max account. If you have a TV provider login, do this:

  • Visit hbomax.com from a computer and Sign In.
  • Click your name in the upper right.
  • Click Account, then Add a Password.
  • Use your new password to sign in directly.

There is another potential workaround listed here.

It still isn’t working!

We’ll need specific info to troubleshoot why a sync isn’t working. Please post in this thread or open a support ticket with this info. Please be as specific as you can.

  • What region are you in? – In general, this feature works worldwide, but there could be issues if you’re using a service not official supported in your country.
  • What service?
  • Any advanced security (i.e. hardware key) on your streaming account?
  • A screen recording and images will generally help too.

Thanks! :raised_hands:

Please let us know what you think and how the Streaming Scrobbler works for you. Trakt started back in 2010 with our XBMC media center scrobbler and we’re super excited to bring similar functionality to streaming services.

This is awesome. Great work.

Cool feature, but before I connect to Netflix I would like to ask if during the setup process, I can specify which Netflix profile is going to be synched and which are not. I don’t want my roommates Netflix activity to end up in my trakt account.

This doesn’t work for Apple TV+ when your account is protected by a hardware key.

Yes, it asks you to select a profile after signing in.

Thanks for the bug report, will look into this and see if it can be supported.

thanks for the quick answer, it worked.

I tried connecting my Prime Video account as well, but after logging into amazon, as soon as the page for profile selection pops up it immediately closes the page and brings me back to the “Streaming Scrobbler” overview in the trakt app. There, next to the Prime logo it shows the “Sign In” button again.

Hmm, that’s a weird one. If you can do a screen recording of the full process that would help us debug. Please email it to support@trakt.tv if you don’t want to share it publicly.

Issue connecting Hulu, upon signing in, after your prompt for user name and password and hit sign in it will be stuck in a loading loop which I let go for almost 10 mins before giving up after the 4th attempt.

I sent you a mail with a link to the recording.

For the devs, I get a message:
"Two-Factor Authentication

Use a security key to sign in to your Apple Account:
"

And a “continue” button that does nothing. I can see it accepting being tapped but I just remain at that continue button.

I’ve tried both my iPhone & iPad, yubikey plugged in to ipad and waved all around my iphone. Nothing.

But other than that, this is something I always just accepted would never be possible. Bloody well done on finding a way to get it going. Hopefully it can be rolled out to Disney+ and Stan too.

Can you send a screen recording to support@trakt.tv showing this? It almost sounds like something is breaking the sign in page like an ad blocker or VPN.

No ad-blockers, and no vpn. On and off of wifi. Testing on mobile data only as I thought those might be culprits.

Awesome feature. Set up all four super easily and the integration was great. LOVE the foresight into being able to “prefer” a profile for streaming history to sync so I don’t get bombarded with Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place from my beloved kiddo.

Question - I “ignored” all previous history to let Trakt pick up future stuff when it syncs. Will Trakt pull in the watched date and time? Or what exactly is going to be pulled in?

Yea it should pull in the watched date. Data should sync within 24 hours and we are working to make that more frequent. Hulu specifically is weird since it doesn’t have exact watched dates on their platform, so those might be off a bit.

This is great, thank you! Will make things A LOT easier. Disney+ is really the only service I’m missing from the list.

mubi would be great as well.

Hi. I’ve some question.
This service is provided by Younify and on their site there is this: Younify TV | Privacy Policy

I’m a little concerned by the highlighted lines.
They collect my user names and password used to access the streaming services I’m linking???

So, if I want to link Apple TV+, this means that they will have my Apple ID and my password???
