When Trakt announced the increase in the price of VIP subscription and decided not to honour previous promises, the majority of the VIP users responded stating that they will cancel their VIP subscription. Many users also stated that they were using only a few or even none of the VIP features.
To me this seems as if Trakt have potentially created a scenarion where there will be nothing but losers. Trakt could potentially miss out on a lot of revenue due to users leaving the service or switching to the free version. This could potentially result in the service disappearing altogether.
For me this raises the hypothetical question:
Considering that many of use have been willing to pay $30 for many years, what is your top 3 of VIP features that you would want to be available in a $30 subscription.
Year in Review
I think this is actually something that should be non-vip. Because thatās something that you share. Like Spotify Wrapped etc. Much more so than Unlimited lists if you ask me. Another useless but fun thing would be āon this day X years back you watchedā, like on Facebook or something.
Improved Rewatching
Not really needed, because before I just had the show page in a tab and logged from there every episode Iād rewatch. But it is convenient that it now shows up in the Progress section too, I liked that update when it was released!

Month in Review is cool and all, but honestly, thereās not that much variety in a month for me, so I donāt really look at it. More useful for movies than for series at least.
All Time Stats are cool too, but again, I donāt really look at it, whooops!!!
Thatās fine. I wasnāt being facetious. That was genuinely the only feature I like out of those listed.
Looking at the list again, particularly the top 2, ie year in review and month in review, I would pay just to NOT get those annoying features, especially the month in review cluttering my view up every month and having to click on āhideā to hide on every device I link to Trakt with.
I tried the edit post, changing the min=3 to min=1. Thatās when I got the message stating that the poll can no longer be modified after 5 minutes.

I voted for Plex Automatic scrobbling as the main item. The other ones I had a somewhat hard time picking things that itād like for it, in the end settled for Unlimited collection item and unlimited lists.
Honestly, the unlimited collection items is just a nice to have thing, I mainly use it so I can see which movies (that Couchmoney recommended to me) I can start watching right now.
The unlimited lists is the lowest on my top 3, I donāt have a lot of lists, and all are limited to 100 items (couchmoney is available for free Trakt users). The only nice thing about it is the unlimited watchlist, which I donāt have a need for now, but I have had more than 100 items on it in the past.
To me unlimited lists and collections are the same thing, both vital for my arrs integrations. Auto backups v nice feature also.
Iām another plex scrobbler, everything is automated. I occasionally use the website to check if/when Iāve seen a movie before. If the website went down to plain text, there was no community ratings/reviews and no mobile apps it wouldnāt make a bit of difference to me. Not even the forums until the last week None of those even made it into your list. Use of the API is another feature that could be tiered out and vital for me.

I agree. I would actually expect a free tier to be limited to using only the website and potentially Trakts own app. That way it is possible to generate income from advertising to cover the cost of free users.
I donāt even want/need 3.
Unlimited lists and unlimited collection is all I want.
Which is why a tiered payment system should be implemented.
Iāll pick a third option just to get a vote, but it will be random.
It was just something Kevin said in his AMA Rippple thread (canāt find the exact quote now), but he said something along the lines of if they introduced tiers he could guarantee that we would be back complaining within a year.
I think they would stack the VIP features so that the ones that most really want would be the ones that would be on the top tier. All the least popular ones would be included for a little extra.
So I donāt think we would win with tiers either, as it would be stacked against us.
