It’s easier to add shows / movies to my watchlist from my computer, rather than adding from the TeaTV and BeeTV apps on my TV boxes.
However, I have problems getting the apps to sync with the TraktTV website. I try “sign out” and then back in to TrakTV from the app, clearing cache from the box settings, and even deleting the watchlist.txt manually from a file manager; rebooting, etc., etc. Frustrating.
Is there some advantage to installing TraktTV on my tv boxes, rather than just signing in to the website? Or what’s the advantage of installing the app on a TV box in the first place? Thanks.
The advantage of a media center plugin is automatic scrobbling of what you’re watching.
I prefer to be in control so I almost always log everything manually. When I did use plex in the beginning I’d still check it daily whether everything was OK…
Per Justin, I agree having the media player plug-in/api handle things automatically to mark things as watched or adding stuff to watchlist via the player or 3rd party app, as highly beneficial.
And I also think it’s very help to also do things manually through the trakt app via phone or tablet or even the website is beneficial too.
It can be a case by case situation. The latter is beneficial to avoid having to navigate around from the media player or 3rd party app just to mark something manually.
Lastly, I don’t think it’s useful use the trakt website from the tv box. Website more useful on your phone or tablet or laptop.
Hope that helps.
