Tracking Movie Collections Watch Progress

Not sure if this is already something available, but I’d like to be able to see the progress I’ve made watching all of the different movie collections that I’ve seen at least one of. Should note that I’m not referring to physically collected movies, but rather a series of related movies (for example, James Bond Collection James Bond Collection - Trakt).
Similar to the progress bars for all of the TV shows I’ve watched, I’d like to have something similar for movies where I can see all of them in one place and I don’t have to manually subscribe to each one.

On a related note, the term “Collection” could cause some confusion as it relates to two different features and might be better off with a new term. (Anthology/Compilation?)

I think this makes a lot of sense @BeeNels , I proposed the same thing here: Rewatch a movie list or collection

My suggestion is that this applies to lists as well, which might be possible with the same feature, since it seems that Trakt considers collections as lists, given that the URL for collections actually contains the word “lists” (e.g. James Bond Collection - Trakt)

I really like this idea too and I understand the confusion with referring to the “TMDB Collection” or “Trakt Official List”. I typically refer to it as a Franchise.

I went to search for whether someone had requested this feature, and here we are. I’m finding myself wanting this feature more and more.

Actually, this feature was available on Trakt (once upon a time). I’ve been here since the time Trakt was blue, their v1, if I’m not mistaken. In that version, movie franchises (collections) were available to track under the progress page. It worked exactly as suggested around here, with the same dynamic as with shows. When you watched a movie from a franchise, that franchise would appear on the progress page to track the remaining movies left to watch.

I’m not sure if the fact that collections are now “official lists” makes this unviable, but I think it would be a neat feature to have back.

Edit: I’m now doubting myself. Was this available or did I have a fever dream, @justin?

I can’t confirm whether or not this was available, and otherwise ideally we’d have something as suggested where it’s officially ‘tracked’/has ‘progess’ in some capacity.

But the best workaround I can think of to get this right now would be, assuming watching it in rank order (otherwise you’d need to create a duplicate list and adjust the ranks to your order), to sort by watched in descending order, and the first item would be the ‘next’ to watch at any one time.

eg. Harry Potter Collection - Trakt - Harry Potter I’m currently watching again and up to the last movie so it shows up first.

eg. Sonic the Hedgehog Collection - Trakt - Sonic, I’ve only seen the first two, but not third yet, so it shows up first, along with 4 after it.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, that’s basically what I have been doing.

The feature would be specifically useful to have a way to track all collections I have in progress. Sometimes you watch a movie without realizing it belongs to a collection. Or maybe a sequel was released without your knowledge. This “progress page” would make it possible to discover those unfinished collections.

Being able to see all my unfinished collections in a single and straightforward way would be appreciated for completionists, like myself.

I don’t think we had this in v1, since I don’t think TMDB collections (what we call official lists) existed at that time. It’s a cool idea though.

It was a fever dream then, sorry about that.

Well, the suggestion has been made. Maybe you can consider it for the future.

Thank you!

I would like to see a progress feature for movies.

With shows, you can see what episodes you have left to watch. It would be nice for movies with sequels where after you watch one, the progress section shows what sequels you have left.

When a new movie sequel is released, it would be nice to see it in the progress section.
