Upcoming VIP Renewal Pricing Changes

Wouldn’t have complained against a small increase, but I can’t justify paying double the price for this service.

Lmao! Trakt, you have absolutely no way to justify a 100% price increase. Perhaps if there were new features or benefits, but nope. This is the end of the line for me. :victory_hand:

This reeks of the old business wisdom, double your price, and if you lose less than half of your customers, you come out on top.

They must believe that fewer than 50% of users on the old price won’t cancel, either through forgetfulness, apathy, or perhaps genuine use of the service.

Mine doesn’t renew until next year, so I’ll have to see how much value I get out of it between now and then, but 60 bucks is a lot for a service which has never been necessary.

No thanks. Another one bites the dust.

wondering about that too. For shows and for movies. The only real function of vip I used is the rewatch function. Have to look for a new platform that has it like that

Currently looking for some if anyone has any ideas? Preferably with trakt import so I can at least use one useful feature they have..

After eight years, this show has been cancelled.

6 years VIP here. I have also just cancelled my VIP. Doubling the price is ridiculous especially with no extra features.

As it was for the limited functionality i use the $30 felt more like a donation of goodwill. $60 is a joke.

The good part is that I have plenty of time to find something more suitable and migrate.

The price increase itself isn’t even my main reason to do so, it’s only the final motivating kick.

Changes in the past year rarely went into a direction that I would prefer. Useless (to me) features were added, sometimes even at the cost of features I favored.

See the “past year” filter option which was dropped in favor of “better” data on the views in the past 24h. I don’t know how this 24h data would benefit anyone but pirates, everyone else already gets top trends directly from their streaming services.

So I already felt like my money was badly invested in the future of Trakt. I don’t see any reason why I should double down on that.

13 years of VIP. But also going to cancel. I don’t know how you calculated your future earnings but this will certainly make many early VIPs go. If you have features that are cost intensive, make them an additional subscription. I’m not using most of the features. The service isn’t worth 60$ for me. Might have stayed indefinitely with the 15$ grandfathered price. But now I’ll just see how far free takes me. Worst case there is no kodi sync anymore.

7 years, a gonna. Not putting up with this rubbish…

Yeah I 100% would have done a $10 sub where they gave me nothing because I liked the platform and found it useful and I believe in paying for platforms you use.

But it’s not $120 (local aud) useful per year lol

I get increasing costs, inflation and rising costs of everything, but straight up DOUBLING the price for everyone, even legacy customers who have been with you for over a decade, is unhinged and frankly insulting. Raising prices for new members, sure I guess. Basic PR/marketing training would tell you a 100% increase without any incentive or benefit to justify it is financial suicide. I would’ve swallowed a 25% increase, maybe even 50% if it came with new benefits, but 100%?

Similarly to others, I barely use the VIP features and simply do it to support the site, but at $60 a year that is no longer ‘sure whatever’ money. Goodbye VIP I guess.

After 13 years of VIP I will not be renewing in Feb next year. Terrible decision. Really is shameful that you think that we will accept a 100% increase.

Well after 8 years my payment is going from $30 to zero. They’ve clearly not thought through how much a 100% increase will alienate subscribers and they’re far more likely to take a loss though cancellations than they are to make more cash with the increase.

Basically just started using Trakt, had VIP for roughly a year now. Cancelled it. The price is just insane. $30 was already more I pay for my beloved to do app that I really use daily. Sad, and I somewhat hope they will fail with this whole strategy…

I’m out unfortunately. No 2 way sync with Plex put Trakt right on the edge. Double the yearly fee just pushed it way over the edge :frowning:

It’s all been said.
I understand that prices may rise, but not by 100%. Might be time to move on after 8 years.

I’m out…double the price

This is essentially the same price as a Dropout subscription. That’s a far better use of my money.

Just checked. It’s actually MORE than a Dropout subscription.
