And let’s not forget WE contribute to Trakt too, providing them our watch information, ratings, reviews, “what’s banging right now” through aggregation, etc. It’s not like we only leech things by using trakt. Heck, in my case I even authored one of the featured lists on the “discover” tab of the website… That’s money you didnt pay someone to make.

@marius wants constructive criticism? I mean, honestly the price for me isn’t the issue. It’s the fact that when the price went up to $60 last fall, i was two weeks away from renewal. It was directly said i would maintain my $30 price at that time by @justin. I relied on that information to justify my renewal and the literal dozens of hours I’ve spent this spring automating my processes for Trakt - specifically because I thought $30/year was a maintanable price point for what i wanted. And why shouldn’t I? I was just told that I would maintain my pricing by Trakt itself!
Further too that, the renewal page also listed as a benefit the fact that I would maintain my pricing. So i’m not clear on how they can remove a stated benefit (raise my price prior to my renewal). In my mind, I am owed a $30 renewal at least one more time.
Let alone they violated their own T&Cs when they rolled this out, they didn’t think this through at all.
Prices change, costs go up. Netflix and streaming are prime examples. Don’t offer something unsustainable and then misrepresent it to your customers. It nearly ALWAYS comes down to communication and planning when these realities hit a business.

After serious consideration and after the pathetic response from the trakt team (or whoever you are @marius, I did not see yet an explanation) I made this decision:
- Activated the 30$ option just to be there because that is a price I would pay, maybe.
- Buying the 75$ Simkl lifetime VIP. Question for people already on VIP, how is it?
- Will cancel the moment I pay 30$. There goes 12 years VIP.
If trakt does not get its shit together I hope they go out of business. As I said previously, this is my favorite site and like it way more in terms of UI in contrast to Simkl but I will not accept this cash grab just for some VIP perks nobody asked for. And especially the way @Justin lied (be it a lie or a change in trakt ownership, I couldn’t care less) about grandfathered prices.

I got it to try because everyone keeps talking about it… Already cancelled it because it’s not what I’m looking for.
- Only thing I liked was the simplified watch history lists… But I wish there was a way to join them all together.
I’m picky and I honestly like Trakt better… I just might not be VIP once my current subscription is up.
But… To each their own.

I need API for lists, and I won’t pay 60/year. So will use trakt free once the 15 to 30$ subscription expires.
Since I was in the beta tester program, I received 50% off. No referrals needed.
