Well obviously…
I do not use it every day, however, and I’m on what USians call “a fixed income” to boot. I just can’t afford this increase, not when I’m even considering taking a break from Netflix. Some of us are not made of disposable income.

Yep, cancelling as well. Been a good ride for many years, but this is way too greedy.
Don’t normally reply to forum threads but a 5 going on 6 year VIP here was happy with the $30 yearly membership.
Doubling is ridiculous especially when all this changed back in 2024 (Forgot about it being September 2024).
Happily will cancel this however bit of a deal breaker for the Plex Scrobbler but it does not justify this hike especially for users even longer than me being registered.
Any alternatives out there?
Also well done Trakt absolutely butchered the respect with loyal users and the potential future of the platform, such a shame watching this fall from grace when legacy users were supposedly protected from this when you forced new users into this.
thanks for the recommendation.
Lifetime is only as long as the dev cares to honor it.
Instead I’d recommend selfhosted applications like yamtrack.
SeriesGuide actually works excellent without VIP.
I was only VIP for 1 year but now I have to cancel.
Its not worth $60 but more importantly the company cannot be trusted anymore.
My grandfather was grandfathered in, now he’s no longer a grandfathered grandfather, and just a sorry old grandfather. I bet all your grandfathers are grandfathered. I don’t think it’s fair to ungrandfather other people’s grandfathers like this.
there is but unfort they have their cons too. like worse API capability
That’s a goddamn 5$/month you’re charging just so I can go higher than 100 items on my watchlist, man.
Yeah, it does! But if I take my data out of Trakt entirely, I don’t know if I’ll continue to use it as the cross-platform stuff matters for my use case.
I’ve been VIP member for 5 years, but a double up increase in pricing has got me rethinking my membership. Unfortunately I cannot justify the price increase and decided to cancel my membership after 5 good years.
I think this announcement is going to bite them in the leg, as I feel that they are losing A LOT of their loyal customers.
I have never cancelled anything this fast before. I was happy to pay $15 for the one, single VIP-feature I ever used during my 13 years on this site, and I once took pride in supporting this site.
I will now take pride in knowing I will never support this completely broken site again, and will actively tell people to stay away from it. Never have I ever seen a site turn so bad in such short time.
They haven’t thought how passionate people is about this topic. I’m cancelling and moving to a self hosted solution. From 15€ to 60€ and I don’t care about 90% of feature. I just want to track things and have calendar for incoming shows. That’s all! Don’t care about anything else
Just cancelled as well. $30 to help with server costs always seemed fair. I’m not interested in new features and the only VIP feature I ever used is the Plex Scrobbling which can be done in other ways for free anyway. Wanted to help what I always saw as a passion project but this has now just turned into typical corporate greed.
To the owners - how does it make you feel losing all these long standing loyal VIP members. Going well?
I’ve still got a couple months before my sub renews so I can decide what I want to do here, but seriously, a 100% increase is baffling. $30 to $60, no grandfathered pricing? I’ve been a member for 9 years, VIP for almost 5. I don’t even use or care about that many VIP features (I don’t use automatic scrobbling, etc), I literally only pay for the larger list limit and to support a site I like. Sigh.
They just lost 3000+ USD in 30 min
10 year guy here!
I just cancled and I guess I’ll just use SIMKL now.
