If Trakt were to decide to limit Lists to 10 would you as someone with over 100 Lists (per: Updating Trakt Limits for 2026 - #76 by CanePlayz) still feel Trakt was worth the same amount you currently pay?
No, certainly not.
But saying the price for VIP is not worth it is different from saying the platform is useless to me.
And there’s a difference between limiting lists as a feature and having to do more clicks.
Yes and no. With the additional clicks comes a limitation because the fact you have to “click” to add metadata means it is now in a limited Offline Library.
Instead of us disagreeing with each other which is a bigger infringement on the way we individually use Trakt we should all be uniting and voicing our combined outrage at the way Trakt has succeeded in tanking the value of the service and thus the company in a short 12 months.
And for what? Whether you have 100 lists of 1,000 items or 500 lists of 200 items or a 1000 lists of 100 items how does that make any difference to Trakt? The number of entries on the database are the exact same.
The same applies for the Library. How does it make any difference in storage for Trakt whether I have 20,000 entries in a Offline Library limited now to 1000 items or whether those items are a fraction of a 100,000 Digital Library? Especially seeing as all the files are digital, but they were added through different methods. A method like PlexTraktSync that was at one point encouraged on this very forum as a way to enter one’s Collection details.
But for whatever reason they picked arbitrary numbers that in all cases affect power users. Users who have paid for those perks that are now being taken away.
Quoted just because it needs to be said louder for the folks in the back. Trakt has gone from a service I’d recommend to anyone who watches even a little TV to a never-recommend thanks to the complete instability brought on by this new (?) product/dev team and their constant rollout of changes that degrade the user experience and cause problems for decade-plus supporters of the service.
Now they are proposing to limitthe core features for everyone: history and ratings. And they’ll only let you rate 10% of what you watch, unless that plan changes. It’s unbelievable… I already canceled my VIP renewal when the “Library” (née “Collection”) revamp was announced. It was sort-of walked back, but the current direction is still worse than what we already had, now with a false distinction between “physical” and “digital” items.
As they’ve continued down this absurd path, I now removed my VIP badge even though I still have some time left. My previous support for this company needn’t be advertised any more.
(CajunRob I know you’ve seen and posted in that other thread. Cross-linked for anyone else tracking this one who hasn’t seen it yet, though.)
So I just cancelled my VIP, it is expiring Feb 2027 and I was going to sign up for the $60 for 2 years deal as it was on my profile. As soon as I cancelled my VIP membership the deal offer disappeared. So now my VIP is cancelled (good for another 11 months) and it is not renewing and I may just keep it that way, unless this deal comes back.
