VIP Automatic Backup to OneDrive broken in 2025?

I use the VIP Automatic Backup feature to make a weekly backup of my Trakt data on every Sunday. However, at the storage location (OneDrive in my case) there is only a 2024 folder and the last backup in there is from 29-Dec-2024.

I miss the backup from 5-Jan-2025 and a 2025 folder.

Is the VIP Automatic Backup feature broken in 2025?

Can you set up another method and see if that works? I have another support ticket related to OneDrive, so I’m wondering if it’s specific to that service.

I might look into that this weekend.

Interestingly, the page for that feature shows this:

The most recent backup was 5 Jan 2025 22:00 .

I don’t see that one on OneDrive.

I have Google Drive and Dropbox setup and both are working correctly for me. The backup process is all the same, with the only different being the destination.

I checked my backups and I confirm it works correctly on Google Drive. Don’t have one setup for OneDrive.

I have set up a daily back-up for Dropbox and OneDrive at 10:00 (20 minutes from now).

Let’s see how it goes!

My last weekly backup on OneDrive is December 29th, so last backup is missing for me as well

Results:

  • Dropbox: has a file 2025-01-11T09-00-23Z-videntis.zip in the 2025 folder
  • OneDrive: still has no 2025 folder (and last file in 2024 folder is 2024-12-29T21-00-29Z-videntis.zip)

So it indeed looks like (only?) OneDrive is broken.

(added OneDrive to the title to reflect this)

OneDrive is working for me, both daily and weekly. It’s not something silly like being out of space or the client not syncing is it?

  • I have over 50% of 1 TB free space, so I don’t think so…
  • I checked on the OneDrive website (so no client involved)

I have mines set up for daily backups on Dropbox and it’s working okay. Maybe try to disconnect and reconnect. Maybe the token for you was expired or revoked for some reason.

Tried that, but again no 2025 folder/files.

Any update from Trakt’s side?

I still did not get any automatic backups. Today I manually created the 2025 folder as an experiment. Guess what? Now the daily backup did get created/saved!

So something wrong with OneDrive folder creation perhaps?

The weekly backup failed again…

But when I checked today there suddenly was a backup from January 19…

I’ll try to check again on Sunday (when the weekly backup is made).

Sorry for the delay about this, but I can’t reproduce or see any issues when I investigate this. One thing to try, disconnect your Microsoft account then connect it again. I wonder if the permissions need to be refreshed and re-signing in will do that.

Already done (see a few posts above).

I’m having the same issue. So if @videntis and I are experiencing this plus you mentioned there was report through support, there is certainly something going wrong.

The strange thing is, it’s listed as if the backup succeeded (“The most recent backup was 19 Jan 2025 23:02”) but nothing in OneDrive.

I just reconnected my Microsoft account. I also turned on daily backups and that worked. Let’s see if it will do the weekly one tonight.

Lastly I’m also noticing that the “Save settings” (POST https://trakt.tv/settings) API call for the data page returns a 400 Bad Request (even though the settings seem to be saved)
