perfect example, there are some states or regions that require sales tax which has nothing to do with Trakt. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve been a VIP for over 11 years. I only use a couple of the VIP features. The scrobbling they added doesn’t work and messed up my trakt watch history, so I disabled it. Why pay for something that doesn’t work. It should be sold as add-on, but instead they 4x the price of the subscription so they can develop it.

I just got my renewal reminder and saw the price. As others have said a price increase might be fine but from $15 to $60 is just crazy. Even if it was $30 it might be more than I feel the benefit it gives me is $20-25 would have been a no brainer.
Anyway I’ve cancelled now my account is active to Dec 10th (why do they bill 2 months before the account ends btw?) so maybe they will email me can offer for a more reasonable price but I will be finding an alternative and switching on Dec 10th if they don’t

What the hell ? I just checked and the price is now 60$ without any email warning me ? One year after they told me That I would keep the 30$ price for VIP ? I was mostly VIP to support, that’s a hard cancel now, I don’t even need the VIP features anyway, what a scam. Glad I’ve seen this before it renews, can’t even believe how scammy it is.

they gave everyone a month or two free when they had the big database crash a few years ago, or if you referred anyone you also got a free month. They’re not able to change the bill date with Stripe so at the time you could cancel and then renew closer to the actual bill date if you wanted and keep the price
Same, just cancelled. 100% increase. Insane, costs more than some streaming services. USD to Aud means it’s over 90 aud now which is a much as an annual streaming service.

There’s never been a lifetime vip subscription, so that’s not possible.

I’m mad as hell for the surprise price increase… I most certainly did not agree to pay $60 for Trakt VIP. I’ve been apart of tract VIP for 7 years, it was my understanding too, that we were grandfathered in the original $30. Also, when I paid, for Trakt VIP all those years back, that was to help support Trakt. Because they needed help from the community then. And I enjoy the site.

This is a terrible business decision. I’ve cancelled. I’ve been a loyal fan of Trakt over Letterboxd for years, and you’ve now lost the free promotion you were receiving when I constantly recommended it to other film fanatics over the years.

hi guys. could someone comment on what is lost when you cancel the VIP? Personal lists are lost?
First time posting here. I’ve been a VIP for 13 years now. I appreciate that they let me keep the same price for so long, but after over a decade, I’ve just cancelled my membership, as I can’t stand for them suddenly quadrupling the price like that. Furthermore, I don’t like the new design they’re shifting to at all.

According to the email I just received, I am an “OG VIP member” which makes this extortionate price hike from $15 to $60 a massive kick in the guts.
I have enjoyed being VIP and I liked supporting the people who make this great service, however I do not understand what has happened to them and why they have become so greedy, Trakt VIP is great, but in no way is it worth $60, not even close.
The absolute disrespect that I feel being asked to pay so much.
I will continue using Trakt, but I refuse to be ripped off and will be cancelling my VIP.
