Watched state without date info

I do know which movies or tv shows I watched before I joined TRAKT community. What I do not know is when I watched them. When I use “watched at date aired” or something else this would mess up my history summary. I want to track my data as detailled as possible but when I do not know when I watched something it would be pretty cool to not select a date. Right now I track only movies and shows after my account creation. I would love to add some more data without the date info.

Thanks in advance.

I understand where you are coming from but it has been made pretty clear before as to how Trakt handles this…

What I do is use release date for anything that I watched before I joined (that came out before I joined and is somewhat close to the period in which I watched). Or I just make an estimate as to what year I watched it then pick a random month/day/time.

Once you have everything added in some form as watched you will find this is really not that much as of a problem. As it is not hard to tell if you marked something as watched before you joined and you will know that nothing from before you joined is going to be perfect.

You could also enable enable quick icons.

Much thanks for your input. It seems that the idea of an empty watched date is really popular. I wonder why other suggestions are in “planned” status with much less votes!? My problem is that I think in the future this feature will be available and I don’t want to have double work on this.

Another question: Has this forum replaced the linked support page above? If no, why are there two places to suggest features etc.?

No not at all, I understand the confusion though.

It replaced the old forum https://trakt.tv/forums which was/is for VIPs, the support page is used for non-VIPs if they have any problems, feedback or ideas.

Also the support page is used by all for reporting incorrect data as mentioned here…

I just realized that I duplicated this topic. Please transfer your votes!

TL;DR: I think the option for unknown viewing dates is crucial!

I recently returned to using this platform a few weeks ago (after ditching TVTime for various reasons), and within days, I became a ‘VIP.’ The ability to log individual or multiple viewing information with a well-organized log, as well as creating lists, immediately won me over. Not to mention all the filtering and data display options, along with the cool cross-referencing and discovering new stuff to watch. The statistics are fun to read and see, but it bugs me that they’re naturally messed up. I was born in the late '70s, but my overall stats show the first movie I watched as “Dracula” from 1931, which is because I haven’t entered all my movie-watching history due to this date problem.

Honestly, for a service whose mission is to track views and analyze data and stats, it’s absurd not to have the option to mark a title as watched with an unknown date or at least the ability to exclude such titles from statistics and more. Right now, I’m torn between setting all movies to some random date or tagging them as “Release Date,” but that’s not a real solution since I’ve definitely watched many titles on their actual release dates (though not necessarily their original release dates).

In conclusion, I believe the option to add an unknown viewing date or a flag is a necessary feature, and I hope it gets considered sooner or later.
