They stalk your account to do the same. Pathetic.
Nothing happens, just try to ignore. Has happened to me a ton of times over the recent months, I’ve honestly gotten used to it.
same thing happening to me here and on reddit.
Just disable notifications for them if it upsets you so much.
However looking at some of their comments, I wouldn’t be too sure that account wasn’t hacked / compromised. Or used by 2 separate individuals.
Example (same movie - 10 days apart)

One seems like an adult wrote it. The other reads like a bored teenager tbh.
I find the downvotes funny, especially when I don’t even care about other people’s opinions.
I have a comment that keeps getting plenty of downvotes, a comment that basically boils down to “this movie wasn’t for me”.
Does a downvote mean I’m wrong and actually the movie is for me? It wasn’t really negative either, it just wasn’t the type of movie I liked
TBH I find movie/series comments like that far more useful if I can see a similarity with what else someone has watched. It kind of warns me that it probably won’t be for me and I can skip it.
this days ( people are polarized ) , om the internet we really have to get the mental strength to ignore.
We just lowered the spam protection threshold to try to avoid this happening again.
For context:
- We need to balance real usage here. For instance, someone reacting a lot to comments a given day because they are obsessed with a movie or TV show shouldn’t be blocked. Someone reacting in a burst to attack someone else should be.
- The threshold so far was set to 50 in a day. We’ve lowered it to 20 in a day.
- When a user hit that threshold, they will be blocked from reacting for 2 days.
We know this is not bulletproof but we hope it will help.
Can we just turn off email notifications for downvotes? It’s just unnecessary and spreading bad vibes tbh. I don’t care if someone disagrees but emailing me to tell me they didn’t like my comment just feels bad. There is someone watching person of interest atm and I’ve commented on a lot of episodes. It feels like they’re just down voting me as they get to each comment section and I’m getting emailed everyday to hear about it.
For the moment, it’s only possible to disable all “reaction” (like) email notifications.
I’ll see if this can be added.
In the meantime, I would suggest to make a rule in your email client to filter out emails from Trakt with the subject line “Someone reacted
to your comment!”?.
