When does a TV show move from "Upcoming Schedule" to "Up Next"?

Last week I started watching Pixar’s “Win or Lose” on Disney+. Today episodes 3 and 4 were released at 9:00 local time. It’s 9:44 now and I expected these episodes to be in the “Up Next” section, but they are (still) listed in “Upcoming Schedule”.

When does a TV show move from “Upcoming Schedule” to “Up Next”?

Did you mark atleast 1 episode as ‘watched’?

I’ve noticed this issue from time to time as well, and I’m talking about shows that come overnight (in the UK).

For example, when I looked this morning when I woke up, FBI from 1am was showing in ‘Up Next’ correctly, but FBI International that was on at 2am was not showing. The only way I could access this was from calender view or to search for it. It’s almost as if the episodes have winked out of existence. If it’s not in the upcoming, it should be in the up next section. Either one or the other (unless it has already been marked as watched, which in the case I mentioned it wasn’t.). FBI International did appear eventually in the ‘Up Next’ but only after a 6/7 hour delay.

This doesn’t happen all the time, but far too much for my liking.

Yes, I marked both episode 1 and 2 as watched (last week).

Weird! It’s as if the show is still on your watchlist. Which shouldn’t be te case as soon as you watch an episode as watched. When you open the watchlist, is the show still on there?

No, it’s not (visible?) in my watchlist.

PS: both episode 1 and 2 do show up in my history, in case that’s the next question

Hah, then it is weird indeed. I am out of ‘things to check’. Hopefully support can sort you out.

I was not yet… I also checked my Progress page.

That does state that I (only) watched 50% of this TV show (so need to watch episodes 3 and 4).

So inconsistent!

It’s not just you. I get it from time to time too.

That is usually related to cache. You can try 2 things and see if it works next time. Try updating the page pressing ‘Ctrl + F5’(if you are on windows), and if that doesn’t work, go into your settings and ‘Reset Progress Data’.

The CTRL +F5 def wouldn’t work because it is the same on desktop or iPad, or iPhone on the app.

But I’ll try the reset progress data method next time it happens and update this thread either way.

I tried both suggestions, but neither of them fixes this issue (for me).

This occurs for me too however I’ve noticed in my case it’s always network shows (CBS, ABC, etc), not series from streaming services. So I started wondering whether it was merely because of time zones that sometimes things got messed up.

But then there have also been cases recently where particular episodes got canceled for airing that week from the originally planned release date and the “up next” went out of sequence for a while.

So I am now thinking this is an issue related to where Trakt has grabbed the info from rather than Trakt failing to show it correctly.

Then what should work is marking something as watched, then removing it. Or reset browser data, in the same page for the progress reset.
I had a show that aired 30min ago and it wasn’t showing up on mine. After marking something as watched and removing it, the show showed up:

Those pages have a lot of cache, and these issues might happen because of it.

Those two suggestions both did not work either…

Check if it’s there now. It seems there was an issue with this show specifically. I tried changing the data and reverting that change and it showed up for me.

Episode 1x03 is now in “Up Next”! :tada:

But both episodes 1x03 and 1x04 are still in “Upcoming Schedule”, although they are already released…

What do you mean by that? Episodes in this section continue there until the date changes:

You can choose when it starts in your settings:

Mine, for example, I like to see what aired yesterday, since most US shows I can only watch on the next day.

I expected it to be there until it is released (9:00 local time), but apparently (“TIL”) the boundary is always 0:00 (yesterday/today/tomorrow), independent of the actual release time.

Yes, that section doesn’t change after the episode aired.
