Shows on SkyShowtime screen around a month later in Sweden (and possibly all Europe) than in the US. You might use the screening times from Paramount in the US but that doesn’t work in Sweden.
For example „Mobland“ is at the moment available until episode 4 in Sweden but Trakt shows all episodes of season 1 as already screened/available.
This applies to all shows on SkyShowtime. Please fix as it is very annoying having to check on JustWatch every time when the next episode is available (they got it right) instead of being able to rely on Trakt.
I recently flagged this for some shows on Disney+ and got the following reply.
Basically, when the episode doesn’t have a match on JustWatch, we use the match of the season in it’s place, if there is one.
We started doing it that way because of recently aired episodes. The watch now links were taking a while to show up on them, so we started using it on a season level, since, this way, the user can check if it is there, even when JustWatch doesn’t have that data (or, if the data was recently updated there).
Well, the thing is that JustWach does have the right data. Trakt just isn’t using it.
If they don’t use it because it wasn’t there right at the beginning, they should update it a month later or so. When it started in Europe, “MobLand” was fully out in the states already, including all screening dates on JustWatch.
I mean, why am I paying a ridiculous subscription fee if they don’t deliver in return?
I’m just writing to confirm that that’s also happening in Spain, so yes, all of Europe. (There are only five episodes of Mobland available as of this moment).
Trakt bases their metadata from TMDB and TMDB bases it from their first tv air date/time. Even if it’s airing in Europe for the first time, it’s already aired in the US so that’s what it goes by. It’s based on the TMDB bible. No way around it.
The thing is that it’s not just the dates that are not localised, that’s known (it’s first airdate after all). They incorrectly display it as available on streaming platforms as soon as 1 episode of the season is available, even when correct on JustWatch
yea i know exactly what you mean. TMDB would list an episode such as tuesday (because they claim it’s early release) where as iit’sadvertised by the streaming platform as wednesday. it’s got annoying but it’s happening so frequent now that i’m numb to that now. I only remember that because you mentioned it. Then again, arguing to them doesn’t help bc they guy by their weird TMDB bible.
That’s exactly my problem — I use Rippple to get reminders and schedules of shows and when I watch a new show that is still being rolled out in Europe, the whole system doesn’t work anymore if they fetch the wrong data.
It also happened more than once already that we sat ready with popcorn and drinks in anticipation of the first episode of a new season of our favourite show because Rippple/Trakt said so just to realise that it’s not yet available here in Europe. Super annoying and frustrating.
Should I contact Rippple as well in case they get their own release data or do they get all their data only from Trakt?
Pretty sure Rippple draws its data from here only and thus the same sources but seeing as there’s collaboration between the two maybe @kcador will comment on this issue.
