Are there plans to add to settings the ability to select a main language we would like the titles of movies and series to be shown in?
I don’t think it will be hard to implement since TMDB has the ability to provide all the translations. Having to store them in cache, or wherever you want, would not take that much space since it is just text. Moreover, many of those who are using Trakt - including me - are not native english speakers, and don’t know all the movies and series titles in english…
Some other apps like TV Time provide this ability, and I think it should be in Trakt.
It should be a top-of-the-list feature.
They won’t.
It’s easier to use a third-party client which offers exactly that. I’m using seriesguide, but there are more apps out there offering trakt + localized titles and summary.
I would like that option too. It is really strange for me to see a German, French or Italian movie with its English title I never heard of. Maybe not the same request, because I would like to have the original title name only.
Above all, what I don’t understand is why the language display is not implemented, because you have been able to search for a German movie/series title for years and trakt also returns it. In short, the interface to TMDB is available and thus the reference to the foreign language.
We only need movie title in other languages, nothing more. And this as a an option. First is English for all and if I as the user like original titles it will change on my profile only to the second title if any - which is original title.
Correct, we only want to translate the titles of series or movies. The information is all maintained at themoviedb or thetvdb. This does not require an employee at trakt who speaks anything but English.
Same issue from my end.
I was looking for one of my favourite movie, “inquilino del terzo piano”, which is named in a title totally unknown to me in english.
The funny fact is that, as far as i know, trakt is mirroring TMDB site, whose implementation lists the movie title in local languages (italian in this example).
